Beaches

The nearest beach is at Puerto Tazacorte and its sweeping black sands are backed by a boulevard lined with terrace cafes and shops. Along the boulevard you can sit on the pretty mosaic benches under the shade of the flowering trees or stop for lunch in one of the fresh fish restaurants.

If you fancy a long and scenic walk, there is a marked circular route down to the beach from Los Llanos. It is about 45 minutes walk each way but, of course, you can just walk one way and get a ride back.

Things to Do

Puerto Tazacorte Marina is packed with small cruisers and yachts. From here, you can hire jet skis, take a dolphin watching trip, go sailing or diving.

Banana production is big business on La Palma and much of the exports come from this region. Right in the middle of the banana plantations you can visit the Banana Museum and learn all about it. Other museums to visit include the Archaeological Museum in Los Lanos and the Silk Workshop & Museum in nearby El Paso.

For spectacular views over Los Lanos, the mountains and the west coast, drive up to the Mirador El Time and maybe stop for some tapas and a cool drink.

Out and About

Los Lanos town has a mix of colourful painted houses and the traditional Canarian buildings with wooden balconies. The centre and surrounding side streets are pedestrianised and there are plenty of supermarkets and shops. Plaza Espana and Plaza Chico are separated by a pretty bouganville lined pathway and offer the ideal spot to grab a coffee or sit under a palm tree and watch the world go by.

The neighbouring town of Tazacorte has narrow streets of colourful houses and a fountain in the main square, which is attractively lit at night. If you seek the shade, you can join the locals sitting in the town square which is lined with unique columns clad in pretty mosaics.

Nearby Attractions

Visitor attractions nearby include the Finca Tropical Botanic Garden and the Paraiso de las Aves Bird Park.

The beach of Puerto Naos is approx 15 minutes drive south from Los Lanos, taking you past the Volcanoes of Aridane.
