Beaches

A long and sandy beach runs the length of the resort and beyond. The background scenery varies for the length of the beach and, for the most part, it is backed by a pedestrianised promenade with boardwalks onto the beach. The beach runs seamlessly into La Antilla, where it is backed a residential road or with villas directly on the sands.

Things to Do

Walk along the dune backed beach towards El Rompido for approx 4km and you will find yourself on the sandy spit called La Flecha. From here you can take a boat or the ferry across to El Rompido marina or, further along, you can cross over to Nuevo Portil.

Activities such as sailing, fishing, windsurfing, scuba diving, hiking, birdwatching and horse-riding are all readily available.

Out and About

The resort has 2 shopping centres, one of which is at the golf resort, providing you with a supermarket, shops, bars and restaurants.

In the adjoining town of La Antilla you will find more shops and pavement cafes, particularly along the coloured pedestrianised street of Avenida Castilla, as well as beach bars and tapas bars.

Nearby Attractions

Islantilla is located between the resorts of El Rompido and Isla Cristina both of which have a marina, golf courses and a small shopping centre. A little further on from El Rompido, in El Portil, there slides and pools at the Aquopolis Cartaya Water Park provide a fun day out for the family.

The city of Huelva is approx 40 minutes drive away, which is flanked by two rivers and has historic ties with Christopher Columbus. A little further on is the Donana National Park and a guided tour should reward you with sightings of deer, boar, wild horses and countless water birds.

The old town of Ayamonte is approx 25 minutes drive and, lying alongside the River Guadiana is the port and border town to Portugal. The quaint sand streets of the famous pilgrimage town of El Rocio, is approx 70 minutes drive, on the outskirts of the Donana National Park. The spectacular mining landscapes and the Museum of the Rio Tinto mines is approx an hour and a half drive away, as is the beautiful old city of Seville.
