Turgutreis is a well established tourist resort with a large modern marina, particularly popular with families and older couples. The resort has quickly spread from the town all along the western coast of the Bodrum peninsular to Akyarlar, which offers a much simpler and less touristic environment. Whilst Turgutreis is in a great location for the evening sunsets and has a very relaxing atmosphere you can always find plenty to do, on land or water.Read more about: Beaches | Things to Do | Out and About | Nearby Attractions | Turgutreis Reviews

Lovely place, nice beaches, quite a bit of shopping and a Migros supermarket. Market was on a Saturday, which sold everything. Prices in bars etc were quite expensive.

There is a long beach in the heart of Turgutreis followed by a string of coves which run all around the coast to Akyarlar. There is a harbour in both Turgutreis and in Akyarlar and it is possible to take a boat between the two. There are a number of diving centres in Turgutreis and Akyarlar enabling you to take a PADI certified diving course or trips to some of the many dive sites in the area.
Things to Do
Go horse-riding. The Country Ranch is located in the countryside behind the town centre of Turgutreis, approx 5km back from the Marina and offers pony trekking and horseback safaris for all ages and abilities.
From Turgutreis marina, take a boat trip around the islands and coves of the Bodrum peninsular or, alternatively, grab your passport and head off to a Greek island for the day. The ferries go to the islands of Kos and to Kalymnos.
Spend a day at the Dedeman Ortakent Waterpark (7km inland) or visit the charming fishing village of Gumusluk (7km north) and snorkel above the ruins of the ancient city of Myndos.
Out and About
There are shops, bars and restaurants all around the Turgutreis marina and the weekly market is held on Saturdays. The resort is generally well served with supermarkets and places to eat, with a wide range of dining preferences from international fast food and English breakfasts to tasty fresh fish dishes and Turkish specialities. The resort does have a couple of nightclubs but for full-on all night clubbing you might want to head into Bodrum. During the peak season the dolmus service operates until dawn.
Akyarlar is approx 8km from Turgutreis town centre and has its own selection of shops, bars and restaurants along the beach, around the harbour and in the village. The weekly market is held on Thursdays and the stalls sell textiles and local food produce.
Bodrum is approx 20km away (half an hour drive) and is ideal for shopping and nightlife. Along the way the relaxed resort of Bitez and the lively resort of Gumbet both offer beaches and water sports.
