It's a perfect resort. Bursting with places to eat and drink, supermarkets and shops line the street. The beach is very clean and well maintained. Sun beds are a bit on the pricey side 13.50 euros for 2 beds and a umbrella.

The beach

The main beach in the resort is called the Santa Ponsa Beach; it's a long stretch of white sand, with clear blue waters and is backed by pine trees providing much needed shade from the scorching sun. There are plenty of facilities on the beach with sun-loungers and parasols available to hire, beach bars, a children's play-area, and a good variety of watersports. A choice of snack bars and restaurants can be found along the beach promenade.

Pellicer Beach, also known as Little Beach, is situated in a small cove between the main beach and the marina. This tiny stretch of sand is just 35-metres in length with few facilities available.

Monte de Oro beach is found on the north side of the resort, this is a pebbly beach just 45 metres in length with little in the way of facilities, the nearest shops and restaurants can be found in the Santa Ponsa town square 100-metres away.

Castellot Beach also known as Cala Blanca beach is found in a small cove by the Costa de la Calma area, it's a very small strip of sand and pebbles, and there are no facilities.

Things to do

Along with great beaches Santa Ponsa makes a great base for those who enjoy sporting activities, there are three golf courses next to the resort of Santa Ponsa which form part of the Santa Ponsa Country Club. Just one of the courses is open to the public with courses two and three reserved for members only.

Thrill seekers of all ages can enjoy the zip-wires and treetop rope bridges of the Jungle Parc; it features several courses of varying levels, including one for children (over 4 years).

Out and about

Ramon de Montcada is the liveliest area and the main strip of the resort which leads into the square. Here there is a wide selection of bars, cafes and restaurants many with live entertainment suitable for the whole family. Though not as lively as Magaluf the resort does still offer a variety of pubs, music bars and discos.

As for shopping within Santa Ponsa the resort offers a mixture of shops, boutiques and markets, while the close proximity to the capital city of Palma easily accessible by local bus service provides a wider choice and designer stores.

Nearby attractions

A very popular evening attraction is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based just outside of Magaluf (approx 6km away). A pirate themed dinner and show, with performances most evenings, there's a special late night adult's only performance in addition to the family show.

Magaluf is also home to some great attractions, such as the Western Waterpark which is full of thrilling water-slides and fun pools for all ages to enjoy, Go-Karting and the Katmandu Fun-House. Neighbouring Palma Nova boasts a unique crazy golf course the 'Golf Fantasia' it features three fun 18-hole courses.

The Marineland which is located in the nearby resort of Portal Nous around 8km away is a popular attraction for families with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows includes performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.

Full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.
Enjoy the scenic train journey from Palma to Soller, it takes a magnificently picturesque route and with vintage carriages is a pleasurable and popular tourist attraction. Once in Soller you can extend your trip onto Port de Soller, where a vintage tram connects with the arrival of the train.
