Quiet resort and not great when it's windy as sand blows everywhere.

Too quiet, not enough bars in area and nothing at all on the beach.

There are several nice restaurants in the area around the hotel and we dined out on a couple of occasions. There is also a nice bar (The Rose) where there was live entertainment each evening which we frequented most evenings after the hotel entertainment finished at 10pm. We walked most days along the lovely promenade to Maspalomes and ventured into Playa Ingles on a couple of evenings. We also used the bus service which was very efficient and the bus stop to Maspalomes and beyond was across the dual carriageway alongside the hotel which was accessed via footbridge. Taxis into Maspalomes were very reasonably priced as were the buses. We also caught the bus to Puerto Rico and Mongan which we enjoyed although the route to Mongan was rather hair raising along the narrow cliff road, the beautiful scenery made it worthwhile. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and there are Sunbeds available for about 8 euros per day. The area is very hilly so it may be difficult for some people to walk or catch the bus over footbridge which is accessed by many steps.

The beach front area is great with lovely walks towards Playa del Ingles. The shopping centres here are quite run down though with a large percentage of empty/derelict shops. There is a smattering of bars and restaurants. Walking between the little areas is pleasant enough and money has been spent making the paths better and more landscaped. If you want more to do, you have to head into Playa del Ingles or Maspalomas.

To be honest there wasn't much to do in the area apart from a short walk to the shops. Shops in the hotel were very expensive and the kids entertainment was OK. I do believe they could have done more with entertainment but all around it was still a great holiday.

As a resort very nice, the local beach was lovely, the local coffee \ restaurant was very pleasant and very reasonable. I found the shops were not too expensive. The Spanish are always very friendly in my experience. Also the hotel offered some very good trips out like a camel ride and dolphin watching and a trip up to the mountains for the markets. I enjoyed all three very much.

Resort is nice, if not rather isolated. Hospital across the road (from Costa Canaria Hotel), which is handy if needed. Few bars dotted about, but need a taxi or bus to get to livelier resorts. Quite hilly for those with walking disabilities. Most guests used to stay in the hotel, as there was always something on.

San Agustin local beach and restaurants were lovely, we spent many family days at the beach. The walk from Gloria Palace Hotel was interesting as some buildings were derelict but the surrounding green areas were being well kept. The children's park did need an overhaul.

Holiday Date:12th Nov 2013
Accommodation:Dunas Don Gregory Hotel

The beach is excellent with sunbeds for those who want to hire them but not overrun by them. Plenty of area for free sunbathing. The beach is cleaned every night. There is a long promenade that extends all the way to Playa del Ingles if your bag is to stroll. We did find that as you get to Playa Del Ingles you start to get pestered by African street sellers and timeshare pests. Some almost aggressive at times. Gran Canaria needs to get a grip of this and put a stop to it. These people will eventually deter visitors coming to the area.

My wife has a slight walking disability and because San Agustin is quite hilly we did not see much of the resort.

Holiday Date:1st Sep 2013

More upmarket resort, not full of beer swilling louts. The beach is safe and clean (blue flag). Recommend a bus ride to Peurto Mogan- about 45 mins away but very pretty marina town. Casinos if you want them. Restaurants and bars - but no too many to attract the wrong crowd. Would definitely stay here again.

We were at the very north end of San Agustin, well away from the centre so it was very quiet and had a small beach just outside the hotel grounds.

San Agustin is quiet, which is what we wanted, but is well located for travel about the island as it is on a main bus route. The buses are frequent and relatively inexpensive.

There is not a lot for children to do apart from the excellent beach! There is an excellent and well maintained Promenade and long walks or bike rides are possible. If you are looking for a relaxing "chill out" holiday, San Agustin has a lot to recommend it.

Beaches

San Agustin is a quiet resort with 2 main beaches; the wide sands of Las Burras beach and San Agustin beach, which are backed by a promenade and linked by a coastal walk. Water-sports available include scuba diving and snorkelling, surfing and sailing.

Things to Do

For fun and adventure you could visit the Aqualand water park (8.5km) or the Holiday World amusement park in Maspalomas (5.5km). Heading inland through the winding roads and rocky ravines you could have a day out at the lush gardens and zoo at Palmitos Park (18km) or a more cultural experience at Aborigine World, Mundo Aborigen (11km).

For an adrenalin rush, how about a race around the circuit at the Gran Karting Club or jumping from a plane at the Sky Diving centre in Bahia Feliz (3km). For a more leisurely time you can go shopping in Vecindario (11km) or enjoy a round of golf at Maspalomas (7km), Las Meloneras (10km) or Salobre Golf (15km).

Out and About

San Agustin shopping centre fills the gap between the main road and Las Burras beach and offers a number of shops, supermarkets, bars and eateries.

Further along the main road, behind the San Agustin beach, you will find the Casino Tamarindos and Dragos Disco. Other nearby venues for a popular night out include the wild west barbecue nights at Sioux City (4km) and the dinner and musical stage show at Garbos in Bahia Feliz (3km).

Nearby Attractions

San Agustin runs into the neighbouring resort of Playa del Ingles where you will find hundreds of bars, shops, eateries and nightclubs. The beach runs for miles from Playa del Ingles around to the vast Maspalomas sand dunes and there are many land-based activities, tours and water-sports to choose from.

However, for world-class surfing and the most spectacular scuba diving head in the other direction to Pozo Izquierdo and El Cabron, both within 19km.
