Things To Do

With so much to see and do in the city of Rome, finding time to enjoy it all is a challenge in itself. If you have some must-sees for your visit plan ahead and pre-book tickets and time-slots where possible, particularly advised for the Colosseum and The Vatican where its queues are legendary.

Some of the city’s most famous sights such as Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and the Roman Forum are all within easy walking distance of each and offer a great way to enjoy the impressive buildings whilst discovering hidden piazzas.

Out and About

Public transport services in Rome consists of a three-line metro system with plans made for a fourth, and an efficient and comprehensive bus network. There are also the hop-on hop-off buses which stop at all the major sights and offer a convenient way of getting around usually with a commentary along the way.

Shopping opportunities in Rome are plentiful, designer shops such as Valentino, Gucci and Armani can be found on the Via dei Condotti, directly opposite the Spanish Steps; Via del Corso and Via Nazionale offer the high-street stores, while Via del Governo Vecchio in the historic centre sees more of the one-off boutiques.

Nearby Attractions

Ostia Antica is just a short 30-minute train journey outside of Rome, the well preserved port town of Rome gives a real sense of the layout of an ancient Roman town, its excavation has revealed a complete theatre, an impressive Forum, a large baths complex, a communal toilet block and an ancient restaurant with the day’s menu still frescoed on the walls.
