The Beach

Rimini’s beach is 15km of fine sand, with every amenity imaginable; the beach has a number of private plots where sun-loungers can be hired and many offer perks including Wi-fi access. The beachfront promenade is lined with bars, restaurants and hotels, and the ever present beach shop for that all important bucket and spade purchase.

Things To Do

Besides the beach and nightlife the city has a good historic centre, with sights that include the Tempio Malatestiano (or the church of San Francesco as it was known up until the nineteenth century), the Tiberious Bridge (Ponte de Tiberio) which connects the city centre to the popular tourist attraction of the old fishing district of Borgo San Giuliano, where a number of bars and restaurants can be found along its small cobbled streets.

Further sites of interest include the Augustus Arch, the oldest surviving Roman triumphal archway in existence, and the Domus del Chirurgo (Surgeon’s House), discovered in 1989 these domestic mosaics are the best preserved from the Roman world, housed in-situ in a purpose built ultra-modern visitor’s centre in Piazza Ferrari at the heart of the modern city of Rimini.

The area also has plenty of family attractions to enjoy, these include the Fiabilandia theme-park, Italia in Miniatura theme park, Indiana Golf a fun mini-golf course, Aquafun waterpark and the Oltremare Leisure Park.

Out and About

There are two main squares in the old town of Rimini; the Piazza Tre Martiri and the Piazza Cavour, dominated by the Pigna fountain and the statue of Pope Paul V; both offer a great spot for watching everyday life in Rimini whilst relaxing in one of the cafe-bars that line the squares.

With hundreds of restaurants to choose from Rimini is a great place to eat out. The choices range from small cafe-bars, open-air eateries and bars on the beach, to the more upmarket restaurants found along the seafront.

Rimini also has many late music bars found along its streets, there is however just one club which is found on the outskirts, though does offer a free shuttle bus in the busier months. The neighbouring resort of Riccione offers a better choice of nightclubs for those looking to party till dawn.

Getting around Rimini is easily done by foot, there is also the option of regular and tourist friendly bus service with plenty of well labelled bus stops.

Nearby Attractions

Exploring the nearby towns is easily done with trains running from Rimini up and down the coast to Ravenna in the north and Ancona in the south, stopping at a number of smaller resort towns along the way. They also run inland to Bologna (around 1 hour away) with connections onto Florence (40mins), Milan (90mins) and Venice (2hrs 30mins).

San Marino, one of the world’s smallest countries is just a short bus ride away, there’s a regular bus service from Rimini which takes around 45 minutes, where the bus stops at several points in the modern 'shopping' districts of San Marino before climbing up to its terminus just below the city walls.
