Small resort with a handful of restaurants and bars which is fine. The low rating is for the quality of food in all restaurants which we found very average - the only thing that let our holiday down as everything else was great. Lovely large clean beach, a few supermarkets etc.

Not a massive amount of facilities in the resort, 8 restaurants and a snack bar, 3 supermarkets, 2 on the main strip and one very close to our apartments. Also a chemist on the strip. The beach was sandy and clean, although when windy the lifeguards only allowed surfers to use it, as the waves and current was not for poor swimmers. The resort was very family orientated and child friendly. A train ride from the resort visited nearby resorts up to half an hour away and was a good 3 hours trip if you stayed at another resort for a couple of hours-cost 7euros each. Also a bus service to Mahon cost less than 2 euros and ran every hour throughout the day, well worth a half day session. All in all a very friendly place, added interest was a street market on 3 evenings a week. Very reasonably priced food and drinks in the restaurants. There was a water park not far away reached by the train. Pleasant walks along the coastal paths both east and west from the resort. Hopefully the pleasant non commercial aspect of the resort, with plenty of wild scrubland for wildlife will remain so. Plenty of bird life all around although this would vary at certain times of the year, also small tortoise and lizards were seen. A lovely place and the island too was a welcoming non commercial place. Great place, great holiday.

Punta Prima is an old favourite of ours to stay. It is quite small but has everything you need. The beach is lovely, sandy and very clean. It has a little street market most evenings which is fun to wander round. Several cafes and a couple of local supermarkets which cater for the English. Most places speak English so it's easy to get around. Perfect for a relaxing peaceful holiday.

Punta Prima is a small relaxed resort with just a handful of restaurants and shops but a good beach although sunbeds and shades pricey. Local bus service to Mahon where you can then get to anywhere, small land train which goes to the picturesque Binebeca Vell.
My fourth visit in five years so I love it.

Punta Prima is a very quiet resort which was perfect for our stay. There are about 7 restaurants and 1 cafe and a couple of tapas bars. There are 4 small supermarkets and 1 gift shop. The capital Mahon is only 20-25 mins away by bus at a cost of 1 euro 60. Although we didn't visit the beach it did look very nice and seemed very popular with the Spanish.

Love the area, it's not commercialised and very peaceful. Don't expect anything to do unless you take an excursion or rent your own car. We tended to walk as there are lovely places in either direction. Binibeca is about 1 hour 15 minutes walk and very pretty and very small village with a few shops and restaurants. Alcafar is the other way, longer to walk. The shops in Punta Prima are cheap for wine, beer etc. Food is expensive in the shops, restaurants are cheap.

A beautiful resort with everything that we as a family were looking for. Some people may find it a little limiting on the choice of bars and restaurants however, if your priority is a safe and clean environment where the beach and shops are easily accessible, then this may be for you. Oh and the transfer time from the airport is a welcome 30 minute drive.

Perfect for a chill out holiday. Don't go if you are wanting lots of nightlife surrounded by Brit themed bars. If, however, you want a beautiful beach, a few reasonably priced relaxed restaurants where the Spanish families also enjoy eating, a bar overlooking the sea perfect for a mojito or two, a couple of supermarkets, and a bus service that can take you into Mahon in 15 mins and then enables you to explore the rest of Menorca should you wish - then Punta Prima is perfect for you. Not a great deal for kids to do besides the beach and play park and facilities offered at the hotel but my son enjoyed the land train to Binibeca and we went at the beginning of June when it was quiet so it may be different in high peak season. I did notice that at the Barcelo hotel there was a lovely water park for smaller children and a crazy golf course too and I think that is available to non residents for a fee.

Beaches

The beach is certainly Punta Prima's main asset and with its clean white sands, it is easy to see why is has been awarded the Blue Flag. The warm, shallow waters make it ideal for children and it is also very popular with the locals which says a lot. There are sun loungers available and a range of watersports to participate in.

Things to Do

The relatively flat terrain around Menorca makes it easy to walk round the many paths and routes around the island. The Carni de Cavalls (path of horses) runs through Punta Prima and offers clear signposts so it is easy to wander for a fair bit without worrying about getting lost. If you find all that walking a little too energetic in the sun, you could jump on board the mini train that runs between Punta Prima and Binibequer in the summer season.

There is plenty to keep the children occupied, with a toddlers play area near the beach and a play centre for older children too.

Out and About

There is a decent selection of bars and restaurants here and whether you want international cuisine or something a little more Spanish, you will be sure to find something to suit. There are no discos here but you will find that the local hotels have entertainment and as long as you buy a drink from them, they are happy to have you.

There are a couple of supermarkets that sell everything from beachware to that all important holiday souvenir and some gift shops but nearby resorts do offer a greater variety of shops.

Mahon is not far away and is really a shoppers paradise so it may be worth heading out the resort for the day.

Nearby Attractions

Not far from Punta Prima, you will find the golf club at Son Parc. It is a championship golf course with a putting green and driving range. There is also a tennis court and restaurant here too.

For some fun in the sun, why not visit the water park. There is a variety of water slides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy.

S'Algar is the place to go if you like taking part in sports. There is a water sports centre where you can participate in many water sports including jet skiing and Parascending, tennis courts, bowls and football.

Not only does Ciudadella have a great selection of shops and restaurants, there are also many historic things to see such as the 14th century gothic cathedral, a couple of museums and the remains of the fortified walls. For the perfect end to your day, venture down to the harbour for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere.

The capital, Mahon also has it's fair share of historic buildings such as La Mola, a gigantic fort which is located at the harbour side and the Baroque church of Santa Maria to name but a few. Many people come to Mahon to shop and will certainly not be disappointed. There are many bars and restaurants and nightclubs too, so it may well be worth saying over to take full advantage of what Mahon has to offer.
