Lovely resort and lots of places to eat. Nice to walk along the front in the evenings. Nice sandy beach. A tram runs from the port into Soller which is lovely. From there you can get the wooden train into Palma.

What a beautiful place! A sheltered harbour and beach with the tram running along a pedestrianised promenade (only 8.30 to 19.30 hours, so very little noise, just the occasional toot and rattle). Plenty of high walks and good transport links to Soller and Palma. A very good value holiday.

We wanted a place free from English bars, not because we are snobs, we just wanted a peaceful holiday in a place that was different to where we live.

Port Soller is a haven for peace and relaxation, surrounded by natural beauty. I hope it stays this way, as nothing could improve this resort. There is the option of a fantastic boat trip from the harbour to a beautiful cove Colobra, a ride on an old wooden tram (that looks brand new) to the village of Soller, that has a fantastic market on Saturday. From there you can board the 'lemon express' train onto Palma.

Port Soller has a huge selection of bar/restaurants along the length of the sea front. All laid back and relaxed, serving good quality fare.

Puerto de Soller is a delight. Provides for tourists but does not have some of the downsides. No discos or rowdy late night bars. Caters for walkers, families and those seeking quieter beach side life. Great beaches with 2 lifeguards and both open and sun lounger beaches. Great little toy town train to Soller which is a working Spanish town only 15 minutes away and from there onto Palma by the 1930's train. Plenty of good restaurants and the stunning backdrop of the Tramuntana mountains providing a sense of selectivity and a feel of older Spain pre-mass tourism. How long this will last is open to question as the road tunnel has cut travel time from 2 hours to 40 minutes, so it is now more accessible and it is a regular outing destination for day trippers from Palma.
Hopefully its surrounding peaks will prevent too much development. It's a great base for walkers.

Puerto de Soller is a very attractive resort. The bay area is hemmed in by mountains with hills meeting at the far end of the bay giving the resort a look of a large lake area. A lovely marina with fishing and leisure boats are overlooked by many nice restaurants. No bars or clubs, and not much to do of an evening, but that's not what we went for. A scenic trip on the Soller tram takes you into Soller old town with it's beautiful buildings and cafes. Puerto de Soller is a delightful resort and I'm sure we will return.

What a beautiful little bay and port at the foot of the northern mountains. Nice beach, warm calm water and not at all crowded. Not over commercialized but excellent quality bars, cafes and restaurants. Checkout Jools' bar and Dragon Fly bar, and dine at Es Faro - Wow. A good even split of Brits, Scandinavians, Germans and Spanish. Very few cars and motorbikes, but a wonderful tram along the front. The whole place had a chilled, but quality feel - wonderful place. I will return.

Beautiful, well kept resort with large choice of bars and restaurants. Quite pricey at times due to its isolated position on the island but we benefited from the great exchange rate. Resort seemed eerily quiet on our first few days but picked up towards the end of the holiday possibly due to Spanish school holidays starting. Surprised there were no bureau de change in the resort but banks can exchange cash (weekday mornings only). Beach was not as normally found in Majorca - quite small and pebbly in places but clear when you got in despite the green tinge. Lots of boats to look round in port area along with plenty of bars who often have singers performing.

Puerto de Soller is a very pretty and chic resort with both beach and port. The restaurants were all good and we didn't find them expensive (probably due to the excellent rate of the pound against the euro). Shops were a little pricey but we found prices cheaper in Soller which is only a 8 euro taxi ride away or can be visited by using the tram. The beach was a little disappointing, especially nearer the port. The sea did not have the usual clarity or blue colour normally found in Majorca and there was quite a lot of stones on the edge of the sea. Down by Repic beach, they have cleared walkways into the sea to make access easier. We were surprised at how quiet the resort was in the evenings to start with but this picked up later in our stay as I think the Spanish must have started their school holidays. There is a good mix of nationalities using the resort and they all seem to be well catered for.

Harbour a delight. Mountains stunning especially when viewed from the lighthouse on the western side. Tram fantastic but a little expensive! Should have a cheaper return fare. Generally very good sand around whole of shoreline. Many restaurants to choose from. Good bus service with very good fares. Even has small bus service to mountain villages a real delight. Good walks in and around area some easy and short. Some steep and long. Well signposted with distances.

As we were there in October it was not overcrowded so very pleasant to walk around. The trip on the tramcar was special as not many places have this facility, it was always well used. The bars had very friendly staff which adds to the holiday.

Sophisticated resort with fantastic views all around this UNESCO world heritage valley.
Very good quality food can be found in some of the restaurants away from the Hotel Eden especially higher up near the harbour area. You have to go to Soller for any good shops as Soller port only has tourist type shopping.

Plenty of good walking on old mule tracks and breath taking views after a short walk to the lighthouse. Good cheap bus service to mountain villages where you can walk back downhill to Soller then take the tram/bus back to Soller Port. Tram to Soller and vintage train to Palma is a must do attraction! Very little entertainment at night unless provided by the Hotel but this is one of Puerto de Soller's attractions. No noisy nightclubs or funfairs etc.

Our 1st time to Soller and we loved it, the atmosphere in the evening down at the Port is fantastic, prices reasonable with quite a few excellent restaurants. Unspoilt, no street sellers or burger bars etc. The Tram into Soller town is a must. Very popular with walkers and cyclists, the mountain setting is stunning, beach very clean.

We thought that Puerto de Soller was a fantastic resort. I don't think it would appeal to anybody looking for a "lively" holiday as there didn't appear to be any clubs and discos.. It's great for a quiet holiday, appealing more to middle aged or older people. We only stayed for a week which was great but two weeks might have been a bit too long.

Puerto de Soller is a small resort with a tram running from Puerto de Soller to Soller on a regular timetable. Has quite a lot of hotels but thankfully they are not big high rise with lots of rooms. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Thankfully no English pubs. Beaches are sandy and very safe for small children. Puerto de Soller is a Spanish resort with a very relaxed and slow pace of life.

The bay is beautiful, the sea front perfect. No high-rise! No drunken tourists.
Wonderful for a family holiday but I also fancy going there alone, just to potter about.
No cars on the sea front, only the wooden tram: safe for roller-blading. We love it.

Puerto de Soller is a beautiful resort with amazing views of the mountains and pretty decent beaches. The sheltered bay means the sea is really lovely for swimming and good for kids. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants, some with live music, and it is nice to have an evening stroll along the promenade! There is a lovely, old fashioned tram with takes you along the bay up to the pretty town of Soller and this runs on a regular basis. Soller is very scenic with cobbled streets and shops and there is also a market on a Saturday. You can catch an old fashioned train from Soller into Palma which takes you through the mountains.

You wouldn't visit Puerto de Soller if you are after an action packed holiday with an all-night party scene. It's somewhere to relax and recharge your batteries. There is a beach round the whole Port and you can hire sunbeds, pedalos, canoes and paddle boards at different places. There is a tethered platform you can swim out to and dive from. The harbour is lovely on an evening with several bars and restaurants with live entertainment. You can stroll round the marina and look at all the boats ; from local fishing boats to luxury cruisers and everything in between. There are numerous bars and restaurants throughout the Port with varied menus ; local dishes, pizza, Chinese, fish, pork, steak. Some are more expensive than others but most are very reasonable. We had a group of 6, 17-23 year olds with us who had a couple of great nights at the Altemar discoteca, where the local youngsters also party, it being the only late-night venue. There are several supermarkets and various other shops selling clothes, jewellery, gifts and local produce. There is a market once a week on Thursdays. The open carriage tram to Soller is a popular tourist attraction. It is a lovely ride to the nearby small town, travelling along the pedestrianised prom which links with a train to Palma. There is also a reliable bus service directly to and from Palma which cost 3.25 euro each way and takes approximately 35-40 minutes. You can also visit other places such as Valdemossa and Deia. There are lots of lovely walking routes, but I would say these would be better used in either April, May or September, October time when it's not as hot. Having said that, a walk up to the lighthouse and back takes about an hour and if you do it early enough on a morning, it's not too bad. You can take a boat ride up the coast to Sa Colobra and there is a dinner/evening show at Son Amar, situated not far from Soller, which you can book in advance along with transport there and back. If you like peace and quiet in a not too commercialised resort, look no further!

I loved my stay here. The scenery is breathtaking and the tram into Soller is charming. The beach is very sandy and you have the option of hiring beds and brollies. It is a mixture of traditional Spanish and new. Restaurants are plentiful and excellent with loads of choice. It is quiet at night so definitely not for the young, more suited to young families or older couples.

The beach

Puerto de Soller actually has two beaches, one at each end of its horseshoe bay. Es Traves is the resort's main beach and the longer of the two, the second beach just a 5 minute walk away is called Playa d'en Repic. Both beaches are narrow and offer a mix of sand and pebbles; sun-loungers, umbrellas and pedalos are available to hire. The pedestrian promenade connects the two beaches and is lined with a number of restaurants, cafes and seaside shops.

Things to do nearby

3km inland the town of Soller which can be reached via the vintage tram, also has the popular and unusual railway line that runs to Palma several times a day. The journey takes just over an hour to complete and passes along breathtaking scenery through the mountains and citrus groves.

There are lots of charming villages many with cobbled lanes, sights and historical buildings of interest, such as the Carthusian Monasater in Valldemossa, and in Deya the former residence of Robert Graves or Fornalutx and Biniaraix, both of which are approximately 4km away and two of the prettiest villages in Majorca.

The harbour is the starting point for boat trips along the coast, including trips around Sa Calobra. Charter a yacht and explore the many hidden coves along the coastline, great for diving and snorkelling.
