A quiet resort, beach a stone's throw away, nice walks and terrific scenery, lots of restaurants, bars, shops and car hire etc. I recommend the Sports Bar with large screen TVs to keep up on the latest football matches (for all sports), meals are served here to, a very good family run business. Los Gigantes is 10/15 mins walk away with beautiful scenery and boasts restaurants, car hire, shops and a marina. I do recommended a trip to Mount Tiede, an absolute must, you won't be disappointed.

Great little town/village, stones throw from Los Gigantes and Playa Arena. Rather quiet - great choice for families! It seemed rather cheap to eat out or shop.

I really enjoyed my stay here, a lovely typically Spanish feel to it with no brash commercial outlets. Lots of good walking to be done but beware it's very hilly everywhere! A nice walk to Los Gigantes, steep downhill on the way down to a beautiful marina, shops bars and restaurants, then a very steep walk back. If self catering there's a very large new Lidl supermarket for all your needs. Loved my stay here as it's reasonably quiet and laid back, so much so I'm returning again in September.

Ideal for a quiet laid back holiday. We would recommend the whale and dolphin trip as a must from the nearby harbour. Restaurants are good value for money.

Lovely place. Easy to get to other places. A quiet resort (not for those who want plenty of night life etc). It was just what we wanted and expected.

Fairly quiet resort, but has everything you need and very picturesque. Be warned though, it is very hilly. Do the whale and dolphin trip from the harbour - well worth it.

Love the area, have been there several times over the last few years. The locals are friendly, a right mixture of bars and restaurants. Los Gigantes has a village feel to it especially in the square.

Was a bit concerned about the area before we went as previous reviews stated the hills were bad, but much better than I anticipated. Yes there are steep hills to walk up and down but you can do it, and it's great for your overall fitness. I had a major ankle operation last year and had no problems walking around the resort. Lovely little shops, quiet bars and a huge choice of restaurants, The resort is very quiet with no nightlife only entertainment in some of the bars. <br /> Everybody here is so relaxed and laid back and nobody stirs much before 10am!!

Puerto Santiago is a pretty place but not suitable for disabled or older people as it is very hilly and those hills are very steep, there is a tiny beach but sun loungers which wasn't very nice, a few nice little shops just around the corner from the hotel and if you wanted to either climb the 118 steps or walk up a steep hill there is a nice little shopping area, we did climb the stairs 4 or 5 times but had to take a rest.

Lovely relaxed, friendly resort - suitable for families, mature couples or people who want low key nightlife but nice restaurants, views and boat excursions. There are three of four small resorts close together and in easy walking distance so plenty to see and lots of choice for eating out etc. The view of Los Gigantes is spectacular. Would recommend the trip out on a boat to see the dolphins - wonderful.

Los Gigantes is a lovely small village with a Marina where you can hire jet skis, book boat trips to see the dolphins and whales. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and a few shops to browse in. There is a small beach with black sand to go on and there is an open air lido/swimming pool where you pay to go in for the day. There is also a place named The Oasis which is being refurbished with an infinity pool, bar, restaurant, children's area and there is also a bowling green, you pay to enter but can stay all day as well.

As a quiet resort it is superb. The people are friendly, helpful, and the prices in cafes, restaurants, and shops are very reasonable. The beach, though small, has everything you could wish for and despite size has a qualified lifeguard there. Also, it is an easy centre to get to other places on the island with buses running regularly and on time.

Plenty bars and restaurants, mixture to locals and tourists (many now Polish visitors). Hilly if walking about. Great at fiesta times. Very cheap for eating out and drinks. Small beach and larger beach at Playa de Arena- down the hill and past Plaza. Diving available with pick ups at reception. Limited for kids.

I loved staying in Los Gigantes. It's not like the concrete jungles further along the coast. From Diamond Apartments, which is up a hill, a winding road took us down past charming shops to the lovely harbour, where lots of boats offer trips to see whales and dolphins. Near to Diamond Apartments, there were two restaurants (Tipsy Terrace and Hong Kong) that offered good, affordable meals and a nice ambiance. There is not a lot of nightlife or entertainment here - it is for people who want to relax and gently enjoy themselves.

Beaches

There are 2 beaches and some rock pools of the coast of Puerto de Santiago. The main beach is backed by a terraced palm garden and has plenty of boarded pathways for crossing the hot black sands. There is also a small beach by the fishing pier.

Things to Do

You can follow the coastal path along the rocky coastline of Puerto de Santiago, passing the beach and little rock pools into Los Gigantes. For sports, head up the hill towards the back of the resort and you will find the Pancrasio Socas Garcia sports complex which has tennis courts, a fitness gym and a variety of fitness classes.

From the marina in Los Gigantes you can take dolphin and whale watching trips. There are also water taxis and pleasure boat trips along the coast and to the secluded Masca Valley beach. Fishing trips, diving centres and dive trips are also available.

Out and About

There are terrace restaurants along the Avenida Maritmo offering international menus, from Chinese to Mexican and you can find a few traditional tapas bars and Canarian restaurants in the resort. For a livelier nightlife, although still relatively low key, there are sports bars, live music and tribute acts etc in neighbouring Playa de la Arena.

The lido swimming pools at Los Gigantes offer a pleasant alternative to the beach. There is a choice of two; the Oasis Club which also has facilities for children or the El Laguillo, near the harbour, which has a lagoon style pool with access to the sea and a natural rock pool.

Nearby Attractions

Head towards the Teide National Park and discover pretty mountain villages such as Masca and Santiago del Teide or in the other direction to Guia de Isora, all of which are within 30 minutes drive.

For bigger supermarket shopping, Adeje is approx 25 minutes away and whilst here you could explore the old quarter, high up in the hills. A couple of minutes further on will take you to the water parks and the beaches of the Costa Adeje.
