Brilliant resort. Yacht Club and prevalence of expensive boats and their owners means that the port is upmarket and feels special. Downside is that prices have gone up significantly when compared to towns nearby. Views and ambiance difficult to beat though! Don't come here expecting Magaluf experience; this is for the well-heeled European jet-setters (German and Scandinavians in particular).

Puerto de Andraitx is a beautiful place. It is untouched by commercialism, laid back and perfect to chill out. The harbour is brilliant with plenty of activity taking place and the views are lovely. There are a vast amount of restaurants and places to have a drink and people watch. The shops were slightly expensive but this is expected. I would say it is more adult orientated unless you travel to St Elm or Camp de Mar where you find lovely beaches and water activities. You can get the Margarita boat back from St Elm where you see more of the scenery of Andraitx.

Not too touristy, however, there were plenty of bars and restaurants to visit. No beach, however, the Mariner was very picturesque. Nearby there was a lovely beach at Saint Elm which we visited a few times.

The beach

There is a very small beach to the west of the harbour, it's just 60-metres long and 25-metres wide consisting of sand and stones. The nearest sandy beach is 3km away in Camp de Mar.

Things to do

For a taste of real Majorca visit the traditional town of Andratx with its winding and cobbled streets just 3km inland. The town was originally built to act as a defence against pirate attacks with evidence of its old walls still visible, it has some great restaurants and bars, and is also home to a large weekly market.

The Dragonera Island nature reserve is just a short ferry ride from Puerto Andratx, there are several recommended walks with something suitable for all levels of walkers including a three hour return hike to the top of Puig de Far Vell.

Golfers will be pleased to know that the south west area of Majorca has six championship standard golf courses including the impressive Golf de Andratx course which can be found at neighbouring resort of Camp de Mar.

Out and about

Puerto Andratx offers some great restaurants around the marina area often serving the catch of the day; you might find prices slightly higher here than other local resorts particularly along the waterfront. There is also a promenade lined with shops, restaurants and bars, so there are plenty of options for dining and relaxing.

Nearby attractions

If you have access to a car there a plenty of nearby attractions offering entertainment for all ages, the lively resort of Magaluf is around 14km away and offers a number of fun attractions including popular evening shows, a waterpark, go-karting and a fun-house. Its neighbour Palma Nova is home to Golf Fantasia a unique and very enjoyable crazy golf course. A little further along the coast in Portal Nous is Marineland, a popular attraction for families with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows includes performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.

Full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.
