Beaches

Playa del Cable is a peaceful residential area with a 300 metre stretch of fine golden sand beach. The beach is backed by a seafront promenade which you can walk or cycle along to Arrecife gardens and city centre or, in the other direction to Playa Honda. Arrecife beach and Playa Honda beach are both approx 1km away.

Things to Do

The Cesar Manrique Foundation in Tahiche (7km) is well worth a visit, allowing you to explore the beautiful former home of the island's renowned architect which is built into 5 volcanic caves and complete with beautiful gardens, water features and an art gallery. The foundation is surrounded by volcanoes and lava fields with hiking trails.

There are two 18 hole golf courses within 10km of Playa del Cable; Lanzarote Golf which is just outside Puerto del Carmen and the Costa Teguise Golf Club.

The prestigious marina at Puerto Calero (15km) is an attractive spot for lunch or an evening meal and from here you can take boat trips and submarine safaris. There are some chic boutiques and designer fashion shops to browse and, if you visit on a Tuesday or a Friday, there is the street market too.

Out and About

Arrecife has something to please everyone with a wide sweeping sandy beach, children's play areas, international shops and a morning craft market, trendy bars and restaurants, the picturesque El Charco lagoon, historic buildings and museums.

In Playa Honda you can shop at the large out-of-town supermarket, home and garden stores or at the Deiland Shopping centre in the heart of the town. The Deiland Shopping Centre is a busy 3 storey indoor mall with everyday shops, including banking, a launderette, hair salon etc as well as independent stores and international high street names. There is also a children's soft play zone, a bowling alley and a number of fast food outlets.

Nearby Attractions

The traditional inland town of San Bartolome (8km) has an attractive church and municipal theatre, set around a pretty town square. Just around the corner from the church square, the Museo Tanit, an ethnographic museum, is located in a charming 18th century former bodega.

Just outside of San Bartolome you can visit the Monumento al Campesino; a house museum set in a reconstructed Canarian farm with artisan workshops.
