How Hot?

Situated on the mainland in north-western Greece, Parga enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate with long hot dry summers and short mild, wetter winters.

The peak summer months of July and August are the hottest with average temperatures of 75-77ºF (24-25ºC), though frequently climbing into the mid-eighties (thirties ºC).

May to June and September to October are still warm months to visit with plenty of sunshine hours to enjoy, and average temperatures above 68ºF (20ºC).

Out and About

The peaceful and generally undeveloped Parga is full of unspoilt bays and beaches and is awash with traditional charm and character. The village is very pretty and is built like a large amphitheatre making it a great family holiday destination.

There are some fantastic cafes and restaurants in Parga, especially round the harbour area and what could be better than enjoying a meal in the warm evening air and watching the lights twinkling over the bay. The nights do become a bit livelier in the summer months with the bars and tavernas along the harbour becoming quite lively and there are also a few discos too so there is something for everyone.

Known for it's scenic beauty, Parga is surrounded by mountains covered in olive groves and has plenty to do if you don't fancy lazing about a beach all day. There is a whole host of things to see such as the Venetian Castle, the monasteries of Meteora, Dodoni's spectacular amphitheatre and not forgetting the crypt at the Nekromanteio of Ayra where you can visit the legendary palace of Hades.

If you want to travel a little further a field you can take a trip to the spectacular Acheron River which is about 35 minutes drive from Parga. Here you will find a river with crystal clear water and stunning gorges, it really is one of the most beautiful spots in Greece and perfect for rafting, swimming or exploring the many trails and paths that run alongside the river bank.

Parga has the usual souvenir shops, with leather goods, handmade jewellery and bottles of Ouzo which you can also see being made in the Ouzo factory.

Out for Lunch!

Parga offers guests an excellent Mediterranean cuisine and is the perfect place for eating out. Eat in a traditional restaurant serving traditional and local cuisine. The tavernas dotted all around the resort offer a great choice in food and drinks to try out. Prices do vary but the cheapest will be found further inland in the more residential parts of the resort. The tourist parts will be more expensive and have a wider choice of menus.

Snack bars serve local snacks including gyros, crepes as well as salads. You will find the odd pizzeria along the coastline and a good variety of fish restaurants. Try some of the freshly caught fish or souvlaki whilst on holiday.
