Palma Nova has three beaches which connect by a wide traffic free promenade continuing onto Magaluf; the main beach Playa de Son Maties is 1200-metres in length, Cala Blanca 1000-metres and Playa Carregador by the small marina is 600-metres. All three are blessed with fine white sand that slope gently into the clear blue sea.
All the beaches have excellent facilities, with loungers and parasols available for rent, showers and toilets. The long promenade behind the beach is lined with many restaurants, bars and shops selling the usual beach ware.
Things to do
Golf Fantasia is a large crazy golf course set amid waterfalls, caves and tropical gardens and offers three very different and fun 18-hole courses.
Marineland is situated along the seafront just outside of Palma Nova and is a popular attraction for families particularly with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows include performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.
Out and about
Dining options are plentiful in Palma Nova, there are hundreds of restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets to choose from, offering every cuisine imaginable from Chinese to McDonalds and Spanish tapas to the ubiquitous English breakfast.
Nightlife in Palma Nova may not be as manic as Magaluf, but there are still plenty of options available, there is just one disco and a long strip of bars offering entertainment for all ages, budgets and tastes.
As a typical tourist resort there are a number of shops selling a variety of items, such as T-shirts, gifts and souvenirs, though for better quality and a wider selection Palma is the place to go, here you will find boutiques, department stores and designer shops.
A very popular evening attraction is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based just outside of Magaluf. A pirate themed dinner and show, with performances most evenings, there's a special late night adult's only performance in addition to the family show.
Other fun attractions in Magaluf for all the family to enjoy include Go-Karting, the Katmandu Fun-House and the Western Waterpark which is full of thrilling water-slides and fun pools for all ages to enjoy.
For a days sight-seeing head into Palma it's full of historical sites and museums, such as the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, the Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.
Enjoy the scenic train journey from Palma to Soller, it takes a magnificently picturesque route and with vintage carriages is a pleasurable and popular tourist attraction. Once in Soller you can extend your trip onto Port de Soller, where a vintage tram connects with the arrival of the train.
