Montuiri

Montuiri, Majorca, Spain

Montuiri is situated right in the middle of the island, high on a ridge surrounded by old stone windmills.

Montuiri

A picturesque village in the heart of Majorca's central plain, Montuiri like all traditional Majorcan villages has a weekly market which takes place on Mondays. Just outside the village are the prehistoric remains of the Talayot settlement of Son Fornes and a 19th century chapel, Ermita de Sant Miquel, which is set on top of a small hill providing excellent views over the central plains.

The islands capital of Palma is a must and just a short drive away, full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.

If you're looking to spend some time with the sand between your toes then you have your pick of beaches. There are numerous stretches of fine sandy beaches within easy driving distance, some with good watersports, remote and unspoilt beaches and even beaches for naturists.
