Marsa Alam, Egypt

Partially due to the fantastic weather and stunning beaches, Marsa Alam is becoming one of the fastest growing resorts in Egypt. The resort has also become popular with surfers and divers due to the excellent conditions. A great resort for the whole family.

Things to do

The main activity for visitors to this area of Egypt is diving, its whole coastline offers excellent diving sites, with healthy coral reefs and a wide range of underwater wildlife such as dugongs and dolphins. Even the less experienced divers have the in-shore coral reefs to explore.

One of the more popular dive sites is the horseshoe shaped Samadai Reef, which is found just off the shore of Marsa Alam. Also named the 'Dolphin House', this shallow lagoon is the residence of over 100 spinner dolphins. Ensure to book for this dive as there is a daily cap on visitor numbers in place.

Another top dive sight is the splendid Elphinstone Reef, the reef's underwater walls are covered with soft corals and it's possible to sight hammerhead sharks, grey reef sharks and white tip reef sharks, barracudas and angel fish.

For an adventure on dry land, head out on a desert safari, either by camel, donkey, Jeep or quad bike. Visit a Bedouin village and try Bedouin tea, ride the dunes on your quad bike or camel, explore the wadis and enjoy a breathtaking sunset from the top of a mountain.
