We loved Marmaris with it's hustle and bustle, not for the faint-hearted so much to see and do, we loved the club street the port and beach.

Marmaris has a fantastic beach which is mainly volcanic sand with pebbles and stretches right along the coast. There are plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for hire and there is a variety of watersports available to try out. There is a palm tree lined promenade which pretty much runs the length of the beach and is full of cafes, bars and restaurants which is perfect for light snacks, refreshments or even a meal at the end of a busy day on the beach.
There are plenty of other beaches in the vicinity and the pretty golden sandy beach at Icmeler is only a 5 minute dolmus ride away
Things to Do
The busy resort of Marmaris is much more than a beach resort and offers a good variety of activities and places of interest for all the family.
There are a couple of water parks in Marmaris, AquaDream is situated at the top of a hill so the views are fantastic and the slides are great too. The Atlantis waterpark has loads of water rides, bumper boats, its own beach and a bowling alley too, tons to keep the whole family entertained.
There are many watersports available in Marmaris and there is even a diving centre which is situated on a boat, near the tourist centre. There are courses and lessons for the inexperienced and for those who know what they are doing, they can just get kitted out and explore the Mediterranean Sea. If you enjoy spending time at sea then you can quite easily take one of the organised boat tours or hire a yacht with skipper and cook and tour the Turkish Islands. This is a great day out and a very relaxing way to explore the area.
If you prefer to do your exploring on dry land then take a trip to Marmaris Castle and Museum. There are some great views when you get there and you can stop off at any of the bars or restaurants on the way up to the castle.
Out and About
The old town of Marmaris is full of narrow alleyways, bazaars and restaurants and of course the castle so there is plenty to see here. Shopping is quite varied, from designer boutiques, stalls selling a variety of fake designer goods and then there are specialist shops selling carpets, sandals and jewellery, so really anything you want, you will probably find it here.
There is a good variety of restaurants and one thing you must try is Mezes which is the Turkish equivalent of Spanish Tapas, followed by raki, a fiery drink enjoyed by the Turkish. There is a good selection of dishes offered in the various types of restaurants and prices are reasonable too so you will find something to suit your taste and budget.
Marmaris is well known for it's party atmosphere and there is at least 100 bars and clubs available on the famous Bar Street. Most of these bars and clubs are open till 4am so you can certainly party the night away if you wish to do so.
For a relaxing day out, take a trip to the Dalyan mud baths for a little pamper session. Cover yourself in the healing and cleansing mud then wash it off in the 40 degree sulphur pool. Your skin will be left feeling great and the mud is said to cure all sorts of ailments.
Take a boat trip over to the Greek island of Rhodes and wander through the narrow cobbled streets, browse round the shops and visit historical attractions such as the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of St John. There is so much to see and do in Rhodes and plenty of options for eating and drinking too.
There is a go kart track just 15 minutes from Marmaris so for a fun day out for all the family, visit the go karts and get the adrenaline pumping.
White water rafting is also available a couple of hours away from Marmaris. There will be an experienced guide on each raft.
