Los Silos and its coastal counterpart, Puertito Los Silos, are located on the western edge of Tenerife, beneath the Teno mountains. The resorts make an ideal base for those who wish to explore the Teno Rural Park.

Los Silos

The traditional little village of Los Silos and the seaside town of Puertito Los Silos are just a 15 minute walk apart and are surrounded by countryside and views to the Teno Mountains. There are also some historical buildings that are well worth a visit and there are 3 beaches in the area which also have activities such as surfing, scuba diving and fishing.

Beaches

The beach at Puertito los Silos is of dark sand and shingle. It is on the outskirts of the resort and backed by a paved coastal path surrounded by mountain scenery.

Things to Do

Designed by the late Sevi Ballesteros, Buenavista Golf Course is approx 10 minutes drive (4.5km). The 18 hole course has views to the Teno Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean and there is also a driving range, putting green, chipping area, pro shop and restaurant.

The Nammu Spa centre, at the Buenavista Golf Hotel has a thermal pool with massage jets, hdyro massage baths, a thalasso circuit, a fitness gym and massage treatment rooms.

Out and About

Puertito los Silos is tidy and modern but has very little in the way of shops and restaurants. Next to the beach, there is an outdoor public swimming pool, opportunities for scuba diving, a children's playground and seafront gardens. At the end of coastal path you can walk under the 20 tonne skeleton of a whale.

In the heart of the village of Los Silos, there are cobbled narrow streets with views to the Teno Mountains and a pretty plaza with a bandstand. Surrounding the plaza you will find the 16th century Church, Nuestra Senora de la Luz, the Town Hall and the 17th century convent and visitor centre.

Nearby Attractions

The pretty town of Garachico is approx 10 minutes drive (6.5km). The town is well known for it's sea water pools formed by the lava which flowed through the town in centuries past. Catering well to day-trippers, the town has plentiful choice of gift shops, bars and eateries as well as historic attractions such as the Castillo San Miguel, the Santa Ana Church and the San Francisco convent.

Take a circular and very scenic route (50km) into the El Palmar valley and come back along the edge of the Teide National Park. En route you will discover rural towns and villages including El Palmar, Masca and Santiego del Teide, each with pretty churches and plazas and local tascas where you can stop for refreshments. Excluding stopping to admire the views and browse the villages, your journey will take approx 90 minutes.
