The bus stops to other resorts were close to the hotel and very reasonably priced too. Nice area and the beach and shops are only a about ten minute walk away.

Las Caletillas itself is a quiet resort which is why we stayed here away from all the hustle and bustle and only about 30-40 minutes from the airport. A great selection of shops in Candelaria nearby and a lovely beach front to stroll along in the evenings.

Whilst Las Caletillas is located on the seafront and has a long promenade, there is no real beach. The nearest beach is in Candelaria (2.5km) in front of the church square.

Things to Do

Walk along the promenade into Candelaria (2.5km) and take in the uninterrupted sea views. There are plenty of benches along the way and the middle stretch is lined with pavement cafes.

Nature lovers could take a walk through the paths in the Malpais nature reserve (9km), spotting the lizards, butterflies and wading birds that live in this large expanse of coastal scrublands and lava fields.

Out and About

Supermarkets can be found along the palm-lined Avenida de los Menceyes and many shops, bars, restaurants and pavement cafes can be found along the Avenida Maritima.

In Candelaria there is a harbour and promenade backed with a further selection of shops and restaurants. If you carry on walking along the promenade you will reach a narrow street lined with shops which will take you to the main square. Surrounding the square is a children's playground and on the opposite side, there is 9 towering bronze statues. Centre point is the Basilica of The Virgin of Candelaria.

Nearby Attractions

Santa Cruz (15km) is less than 15 minutes drive away and, as the island's capital city, offers many attractions and entertainments. You can take a tour of the impressive Auditorium which stands on the waters edge; shop for local produce in the African Market; browse the ornate interior of the San Francisco church; browse the city shops and stop for lunch in one of the many bars and restaurants surrounding the Plaza de Espana.

5km further north of the Santa Cruz is the mile long golden sands of Playa de las Terisitas at San Andres. San Andres is a smart little fishing village with a selection of bars and restaurants but, it is also the gateway to the Anaga Mountains. From here you can take the main road through the mountains and into the pretty town of La Laguna.
