Krabi, Thailand
The Krabi province lies along the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand, providing a great base for a holiday the area is filled with white sandy beaches, extensive coral reefs, hot springs, numerous caves and waterfalls, and has over 130 islands to explore that include the island paradises of Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta.

The most developed beach in the Krabi province is Ao Nang Beach, it has a shallow coastline ideal for families with small children and when the tide is low the once deserted beach (now home to a luxury resort hotel) of Pai Plong is easily accessible by foot.
Found behind the big limestone mountains and only accessible by sea the Rai Leh (Railay) Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the hilly Ao Phra Nang peninsula.
The Klong Muang Beach is home to several upmarket resort style hotels, where the fine white sands stretch for around 3 km. A relatively new holiday resort the village behind the beach has just a handful of shops and restaurants to choose from.
Tubkaak Beach has a long stretch of white sands overlooking the Koh Hong Islands, a quiet beach with just a few hotels this is a great spot for peace and relaxation, nightlife can be found at the resort of Ao Nang which is around 20mins away.
Things to do
The Krabi province is a popular area for rock climbing, in particular the limestone cliffs which provide stunning views both inland and out across the Andaman Sea. Another attraction high on visitor's list of thing to do is to explore one or some of the many islands to be found along the coastline, the most famous of which are the beautiful Phi Phi Islands.
Other activities include jungle tours, elephant treks, river rafting, a visit to a hot spring or/and waterfall, diving and a unique 18-hole golf course nestled amongst the lush green forest.
There are around 20 temples in the Krabi province the most famous of which is Wat Tham Suea (Tiger Cave Temple), the temple is built into a limestone cave and a walk up some 1200 steps rewards you with a sitting gilded Buddha statue along with amazing views.
Out and about
Krabi Town is the charming riverside provincial capital and easily reached wherever you're staying in the area, with several options for transport available from open-air buses to converted trucks (songtaews) and tuk-tuks to longtail boat taxis.
The most popular resort along the Krabi coastline is Ao Nang, where a number of accommodation options, tourist shops, spas and restaurants can be found along with a selection of relaxed bars and a couple of nightclubs.
