Beautiful walk of bars restaurants and shops next to the beach so each restaurant has a view of the sea. Stunning cliffs behind with a monastery on the top. A little boat €5 each to go from Kamari beach to Perissa round the cliffs. 20 minute journey. Boat every 40 minutes. Lots of places to hire quads and buggies but don't get ripped off with the diesel at the garage. We got advised would need a full tank in a buggy for half the island so we did as advised, €40 and we used one notch on the bar so no more than €10 would see you round the full island. A fantastic way to see the little coves. To see Fira and Oia we caught the bus from Kamira square, 20 minutes to Fira then another 30 minutes to Oia. Very pleasurable as their busses are air conditioned coaches. Kamira isn't cheap to eat and drink. A cocktail €9 to €13. Steak €20. Chicken dish €15. Starters €7. Fish €18. Half carafe of wine €7. An average evening meal for 2, half carafe of wine €70. Similar to Manchester/Leeds prices. But every meal was delicious.

Kamari is more flat than some of the other parts of Santorini and this is therefore better for anyone with mobility problems. The centre has lots of bars and restaurants and the evening atmosphere is vibrant but not raucous. The beach is shingle not sand and there is no shortage of sun beds. We visit the Liver Bird bar and cafe which is just off the main road. It is run by Sheila and Wayne. It is immaculately clean with lots of comfortable seats inside and out and a very warm welcome. We also had a meal at a small Greek restaurant again off the main road where traditional music and dancing takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays. It is a great place to go and the staff are fabulous. My final recommendation is the Chinese & Thai restaurant where we also had a really lovely meal. Try to visit Oia for the sunset which is lovely but I would warn anyone doing a boat trip that there are about 300 steep steps from the landing area to the town. You can go up on a donkey if you wish but if you have mobility problems or are with young children, this may not be possible. We went via a bus trip which was absolutely fine and very convenient. A small bottle of beer was around €3.90 and small coffee €3.50.
