Inca

Known as the 'City of Leather' Inca is a great place to seek some leather bargains at the many shoe and leather discounted outlets. Also every Thursday a market is held in the town selling leather, jewellery, carved olive wood and lace.

Inca is predominantly an industrial town and therefore not hot on the must-do list for tourists, shopping is probably the main reason for visitors to the islands third largest town.

Inca's town centre should you venture in has been pedestrianised and a pleasant place for a stroll along its palm-lined streets and peaceful squares. The town's main square 'Placa Santa Maria Major' is home to a choice of cafes and bars, and the town's main church, which is worth a visit.

The islands capital of Palma is a must and is reachable by train directly from Inca making a cheap and easy option to visit the city. Full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.

For some time on the beach the Alcudia Bay is just 20 km from Inca and with fine white sands which stretch from the Port of Alcudia and continue on for some 14 km into the neighbouring resorts of Playa de Muro and Ca'n Picafort finding a spot to bath shouldn't be too difficult even in the busy summer months. The water here is shallow making it ideal for families and there are plenty of facilities available all along the beach with numerous water sports including jet-skis, paragliding and banana rides; and a busy promenade lined with hotels, and many restaurants, cafes and shops.
