The resort itself is quite small and many of the restaurants and shops had closed down, possibly due to being end of the season but a few looked like they've been closed for some time. The pebble beach is small but the water is clean and the views across the bay are lovely.

Gouvia is ideally positioned to explore the jewel that is Corfu, all facilities are within easy walking distance. Good restaurants line up to compete for your trade, my own favourite being SOS restaurant at the northern end of the village. A large and spectacular bay is the home of one of the largest marinas in the whole of the Mediterranean which is full of all types and size of both sailing and motor yachts, from 9 to 50 metres. Envy can be yours for as far as you can walk, I spent 4 hours walking the jetties and still only saw 3/4 of the vessels berthed here.

A regular bus service can be utilised to take you north and south, or you can hire all types of 2 and 4 wheel bikes, quads and cars from a number of rental companies. Boats can be hired along with all types of watersport fun from the bay and cruises to take you too in all directions, from the various islands to trips across to mainland Greece or Albania (only a few kms away). My personal choice is to hire a 125cc scooter, this time clocking up 1150kms during my 2 week holiday! All in all a fantastic holiday and one I will not wait another 8 years to repeat.

Gouvia is a nice smaller resort. Reasonable selection of outlets although there were a few sites closed down no doubt due to the financial situation. Several ATMs and no problem getting cash. Cash was always the 1st choice though in the restaurants.

We were mainly with our friends (10 in total) during this holiday and Gouvia provided us with everything needed and more. My partner even had his hair cut whilst we were there which was helpful. A very friendly and cheerful place to visit and unspoilt which goes a long way these days.

Gouvia is lovely, not too big but has plenty of wonderful restaurants and bars. Everywhere they were so welcoming and so friendly. Corfu is picturesque. I'd recommend booking a trip with Captain Spyros, a boat trip, we went to Kassiopi, and loved it.

A small village lots of Tavernas, shops and restaurants - 2 minute walk to pebble beach - fantastic views. Walk to the end of Gouvia then carry on to the next village Kontokali, a friendly village. We spent a lot of time in the Beer Bucket English owned Bar, the owner Davey from Liverpool has been there 19 years and makes sure you have a great time.

The problem with Gouvia is there is no pavement or very little, so it is not very enjoyable walking about the village, because you have to have one eye on the cars and scooters speeding through here. There are a number of pubs, restaurants shops. The beach is stoney, there is also a marina that is quite nice.

Friendly village. Despite the fact it had been four years since we were last there, many people remembered us and seemed genuinely pleased we had returned. Well situated for Corfu town, excursions to Albania and Paxos or just taking a motor boat up the coast. Well worth a visit.

It was nice to have somewhere to walk to in the evenings but it is obvious that Greece has had hard times. Many places closed down and the shops are very repetitive in their offers. A couple of lovely restaurants and bars worth visiting.

A left turn out of our resort and a five minute walk and the shops, cafes and bars started. Something for everyone, beach and beach bar, everyone friendly and helpful, everything you would need for a holiday. A short bus trip from old Corfu, which was interesting; most shops closed on a Sunday and very busy if a cruise ship was in. We were a couple but we did see a few families about.

Gouvia has a pebble beach and a marina. There are some very good restaurants which helps when the all inclusive meals are not up to standard. The resort in general was very clean with no hassle from shop and restaurant touts.

Gouvia is a beautiful and friendly resort. It is my second visit and I will most certainly be returning next year. Sunshine uk were superb, I cannot fault the service at all. Everything was so smooth and straight forward. Travelling alone can sometimes be a bit daunting but I had nothing to worry about. I will recommend, Corfu, Gouvia and Sunshine uk to all of my friends!

Beaches

There are several beaches which are made up of shingle, pebble and sand. The middle section of the beach is best for swimmers as the beach shelves gently into the sea. Either side of this section is a good choice of watersports including motorised watersports.

Nearby Attractions

Corfu Town is only 8km away which is worth a visit both during the day and at night and is easily reached by bus or taxi. Here there is an Old Town with cobbled streets housing shops, bars and restaurants and visitors can also wander around the churches and museums. The Ipapanti Church which is found in the village of Komeno, about a 15 minute walk away, is worth visiting also.

Quick Facts

Corfu Airport is approximately 10 km away - transfer time about 15 minutes.
