Dassia Hotels Corfu, Greece

Dassia is a lively resort set in a good location for exploring its neighbouring resorts (Ipsos and Corfu Town). The beach slopes gently into the sea and this is a superb place to swim as the sea is calm. The resort is good for watersports and although there are no clubs as such there are a couple of disco bars that stay open until the early hours. Best suited for families and couples.

A lot of the shops were shut down, only a few bars restaurants and shops. This place is like a ghost town. The bars aren't cheap to drink either. Nothing for families or couples really. This place is very dirty with rubbish. The beach is shingle, Malibu beach is a lot cleaner with sun loungers and a bar and restaurant. Had a boat trip to blue lagoon which made out the boat went in the caves and it doesn't you have to swim in them. We went to old Corfu which had plenty to do and Ipsos on the bus which is pretty cheap. Two euros a pint and 2.50 for cocktails in Ipsos.

The resort has suffered from the two hotels presence and in parts looks a little "jaded". The all inclusive has affected local restaurants some of which have closed down but if you look there are some little games.

The beach has to be the main attraction as it is safe, clean and is in a beautiful bay. There are small pebbles but these turn to soft safe sand not too far into the sea. There are plenty of water activities such a paragliding, pedalos, banana boat rides, boat hire and day trip excursions all available from here. Sunbeds and parasols are plentiful and there are bars and food available along the coast. In the small stretch of shops there are supermarkets, souvenir shops, car hire agents, doctors and restaurants. We found it to be a safe, clean family resort not far from the airport (transfers 20mins).

Good restaurants and friendly people. La Casa is very good as is Bamboo but they are all trying very hard and feeling the lack of tourists do to the Greek situation. Trips available everywhere, car, bike and boat hire. Beach is clean but hard on the feet so wear wet shoes.

I stay in Dassia as it is close to Corfu town. The reason being is that my grandad is buried in the British Cemetery in Corfu town. I thoroughly recommend you visit the cemetery as you go from the noisy town into a very quiet environment. George Psaila does a great job looking after the cemetery.

Great resort for a relaxing holiday. Plenty of gift shops, supermarkets and taverns. Several ATM in resort and lots of places to book sightseeing tours (by road or sea). Dassia has a shingle beach that can be difficult to get in and out of due to the shingle creating a deep step into the water. Plenty of water sports along the beach front and tour boats operate from several locations along the beach front on a daily basis.

On the street side were numerous cafes and tavernas all have free wifi and normal Greek priced drinks. Hermes car hire very good (just opposite) 60 euro for 2 days all inc. Corfu town bus ride only 1.50 euro and every half hour.

The downside was the main road in front of the hotel - very busy. But the hotel is in an excellent position for all the tavernas, bars and restaurants (it's in the middle of everything). A meal is about 50 Euros for four, with a beer each, very reasonable. The nightlife at the bars does not include any tribute acts, but does have Greek entertainment, which was fun. The hotel bar is good and does stay open until the early hours, the DJ will play any requests, which was good. 5 minute stroll to the beach, where you can find more restaurants. The bus stop is a short walk, so it's easy to get to Corfu Town or Ipsos. The trips are reasonable and the BBQ trip to Kassioppi was excellent. Its very flat, so it's good for people with walking difficulties.

The lively 200 metre stretch of shingle and pebble beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and is ideal for families due to the shallow waters. At the jetty is a choice of watersports.

For those who wish to explore the surrounding area the coastal villages of Gouvia and Kontokali are worth a visit. Here you will find traditional cobbled streets, old churches and a Venetian shipyard.
