Accommodation:Palia Don Pedro Hotel

The place surrounding the hotel is horrible, it's like a ghost town; the streets are lined with derelict restaurants, cafes, houses, unfinished hotels, just vast areas of waste land. There's a lot of cafes and a few restaurants dotted about in no formation, just dotted about. A few small shops. Beach was just a stone beach thing. Los Cristianos is a bit more busier but I wouldn't say it's a fun place.

Clean and quiet, not spoiled. Nice to stroll round, dominated a little by Brit bars but not an issue when all-inclusive.

A lovely little town with really nice harbour and good cafes and shops. Not too busy and you don't get people trying to drag you off the streets for your custom. Locals real friendly and welcoming (some good fishing to be had in the area as well).

This is the second time that I've been to Costa del Silencio. It's very quite which suits me fine, there's plenty of good walks, shops and restaurants, and 15 minutes away is TenBel where there's more shops and restaurants and a nice promenade with plenty of bars and restaurants where you can have a beer and watch the sunset.

Roads and footpaths leading into Silencio are in a real bad state and apart from a very small front with a few cafes that is it. We will never return.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Lovely village feel with all the bars and restaurants around the park. The harbour is amazing, clear, clean blue green ocean and you can actually see the fish! A bus ride to the busier areas with markets and clubs is just €1.50 away. The evenings are so relaxed, no clubs just a lovely place to go and totally relax, watch the sunset and take in the clean air, with a beer or wine about €1 a glass. Plenty of adventures on the sea available, just stroll along the harbour and choose one.

The area is very quiet, the bus stop is directly outside the hotel door, but don't bother looking at the time table, they seem very random. 1.25 into Los Christianos. Places to eat out are, The Chicken Shack, please don't be put off by first impressions, as we were, give it a go, the food is amazing, very reasonable, and staff so friendly. Tu tum, just up the road, fantastic steak, then over the road, China Town, all great food.

We walked along the coast path to Las Galletas which was nice, but there wasn't much to do. We took the bus to Los Cristianos a few times. Bus service good and not expensive with a bus pass, bought at bus station in Los Cristianos. There is no sandy beach, just a rocky shore. The sea was very rough, lovely to sit and watch!

Easy walking if you have mobility issues, as its all fairly level good footpaths, and a fair smattering of restaurants close to the Marino Hotel. There is a bus stop just outside the Hotel which runs to various resorts and other parts of the island.

No beach, only rocks. Not much to do at night, few pubs, many places not open in end of October when we went. A few shops and supermarkets, if you like really quiet then go here. Only good thing was bus stop outside our hotel, for a few euros you can go to Los Cristianos, Playa de Las Americas, Adeje etc!

As most people who visit Tenerife know, there are no golden beaches, but for anybody who likes rock pooling, they are ideal. There were a selection of excursions available, plus the bus stops serving all of the island were only a few steps from the hotel. As we were all inclusive, we didn't venture out for food or drink, but noticed during walkabout that there were a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, bars, etc within walking distance. There are several bars and restaurants at the marina and quite a few boats to see, if that is your thing. It was almost a resort of two halves; some very modern and some very old, which made it more interesting. One of the big advantages is that Costa del Silencio is such a short distance from the airport.

The resort is small and quiet, with some shops, a small rocky beach and a working harbour. But there is great local transport, with the bus stops just outside the front of the hotel. For 3-4 euros you can go to La Caleta, Las Americas, Los Cristianos or El Medana.

Beaches

The beach at Costa del Silencio could be fairly described as smaller than a postage stamp but, the water around the rugged coastline is the prettiest of blues. There is also a small black sand beach at Las Galettas which is popular with surfers and body boarders.

Things to Do

The resort is home to the prestigious Tenerife Scuba Diving centre and well placed to enjoy the underwater treasures of the Montana Amarilla marine reserve. The centre offers an extensive range of on-site PADI certified courses with eLearning courses if you want a head start. The centre run guided shore dives, night dives and also has a dive boat in Las Galletas Marina.

If you follow the path up the side of the Montana Amarilla, you can walk around the top of the caldera for great views across Costa del Silencio and to San Miguel and Golf del Sur in the east. You can also follow the coastal path (although this route is a little rough in places) from the tiny beach at the foot of the Montana Amarilla to Las Galettas and where the sea isn%u2019t crashing into the rocks you might pass a few folk with a line cast into the azure blue waters.

From the San Miguel Marina (10km), on the outskirts of Golf del Sur, you can take an underwater adventure onboard the yellow submarine. In Golf del Sur itself, you have a choice of golf courses.

Out and About

There are 4 main commercial centres in the resort with the odd mini-market, bar and restaurant scattered in between.

You can walk into the neighbouring resort of Las Galletas in about 10 minutes which is known for its fresh fish and seafood restaurants located around the harbour. Alternatively, on the far side of Golf del Sur; the little fishing town of Los Abrigos is a great place to soak up the atmosphere around the harbour and has the best fresh fish restaurants.

Nearby Attractions

The beach at Los Cristianos (12km) is great for sunbathing, swimming and water sports. The beach lies next to the harbour from which you can go sailing, take fishing trips or catch the ferry to La Gomera. A big market is held here on Sundays.

The highly acclaimed Siam Park is great for adults or children and you can spend the whole day lazing around the wave pool, riding the lazy river and whizzing down the waterslides.

The exclusive village of Chayofa is approx 15km away and is home to a small Camel Park and the lovely Jungle Park wildlife park.
