The area was really nice and plenty to do. It was fairly expensive but on par with rest of Europe.

Very quiet place which was perfect for me. Port is lovely and the sea is very clear.

I didn't take in any of the attractions as was there purely for a relaxing break but I caught a local bus to Palma which was easy enough and about an hours journey. Probably more suited to couples and families with small children but a beautiful place and I'm sure you could find plenty to do if you were looking for it.

Colonia Sant Jordi is a very relaxing resort, a short walk into the small town with some lovely bars and restaurants. We found them to be very friendly. There was a harbour at one end of the town with a beach. You could wander in and out of the the small streets and see the local people going about their daily lives. Buses run to Palma which takes about one and quarter hours and costs 25 euros return for two people.

The beach

Platja d'es Port, or Es Port, is the beach situated next the marina in Colonia Sant Jordi. The beach has fine white sand and is backed by a tree lined promenade where a number of shops and restaurants can be found. Sun-loungers, parasols and pedalos are available to hire on the beach.

The Es Trenc beach lies to the north of the resort, this long beach of white sand and crystal clear water stretches for 2-km. A popular choice with naturists as it's an official nudist beach. There are a few bars and restaurants along the beach.

Around 10 km from Colonia Sant Jordi is the remote bay of Calo de Marmol (the marble bay), a small beach just 40-metres wide of fine white sand with crystal clear water. Visitors are limited with some arriving by boat and others who walk the 5.5 km trail from the lighthouse at Cap de ses Salines. The isolated location means there are no facilities here.

Out and about

The resort is peaceful with a laid-back nightlife; there are a handful of good restaurants and bars found mainly around the marina. For those seeking something a bit livelier the holiday resort of Cala d'Or is a short taxi ride away (around 20 km). A street market takes place every Wednesday and there are a few shops selling beachwear and souvenirs etc.

From the harbour it's possible to take a boat out to Cabrera Island, which is part of a group of islands that have National Park status. The blue seas around the island are full of rare and endangered species of marine life such as the sea turtle. Once on the island it's prohibited to wander around on your own and you must take a guided tour.
