Beaches

The golden sands of Reduit Beach stretch for about a mile and shelve gently into the calm waters of Rodney Bay. Whilst many sections belong to the hotels, you can hire sun loungers and parasols. There is also a good choice of water sports available, particularly snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing and fishing. For a quieter beach take a water taxi to Pigeon Island.

Things to Do

Visit Pigeon Island which can be accessed by a causeway from the mainland, a little north of Gros Islet. Follow the trails through the natural surroundings, grab a bite to eat at the cafe, relax on the beach and climb up Signal Hill for extensive views along the coast. You can also discover a little of the islands history of battles between the French and the English at the remains of the former Army Barracks and Fort Rodney.

Play a round of golf at the St Lucia Golf and Country Club (4km) or at Sandals La Toc Golf (12km), take a fishing trip, go dolphin and whale watching or enjoy a romantic sunset cruise or relaxing boat trip to beaches and tourist attractions at the southern end of the island.

There are also many land-based tours and excursions which run from in and around the marina, such as hiking and ziplining through the rainforests, jeep safaris and general sightseeing.

Out and About

There is a shopping mall and a good choice of shops and restaurants at Rodney Bay Village on the southern and western fringes of the Rodney Bay Marina. You might also try your luck at the Treasure Bay Casino and enjoy a stroll around the Marina which sits in the inner lagoon.

On Friday night head into neighbouring Gros Islet for the lively Friday Night Street Party. Dance in the streets to the Caribbean rythms that fill the air along with the smells of the street vendors barbecued meats and seafoods.

Nearby Attractions

The capital of Castries (10km) is a great place for shopping and historic interest. You can see the historic site of Fort Charlotte at Morne Fortune, where you will get great views over the harbour. Around the harbour you can shop the duty free boutiques at La Place Carnege and see the historic Derek Walcott Square. At the cruise port you will find further opportunities for duty free shopping at Point Seraphine or you can pick up local handicrafts at the popular Craft Market.

Discover the secluded Marigot Bay and dine out in one of its hidden restaurants, which you can only reach by water taxi or head a little further south for the Marine Reserve, snorkeling and diving sites at Anse Cochon.
