Basic accommodation. Staff helpful and hard working. Food is average and not always geared for children. Great overall value for what you pay for!

The rooms were as per the images; basic but as expected. The third bed in the living room was a pull out - floor level bed - although we made the sofa into a bed as this felt much more bed-like! The room had a fridge with useful freezer compartment plus a kitchen. Much more space in the apartment than expected - pleasantly surprised by this - although the latches on the windows / patio doors were a little temperamental. The rooms do not have air conditioning. The rooms do have a TV but there was a deposit of €10 required should you want the remote. Safes / fans also had daily rental charges.

There was a daily charge of €1.00 to rent the sunloungers by the pool and the umbrellas. The pool is salt water and very cold - but nice once you are in and used to it! We spent a lot of time in the pool.

We were all inclusive and there wasn't much choice of food, but there was always something to eat (if you like chips and bread). The all inclusive offering generally was very limited, no ice cream at all and only wine / beer / soft drinks / hot drinks (no spirits until evening (20:00 to 23:00) and even then the choice was extremely limited). They do however have other spirits available to purchase.

The entertainment was slightly odd - started at 21:30 for the kids and often consisted of a woman dressed as a frog - not really sure why! Having said this - it was somewhere to go for a drink on a night and kept the kids entertained whilst we had a couple of drinks.

You honestly get what you pay for and we had a fab time. We chose to eat out on an evening for more than half of our stay but this wasn't necessary; it just gave us a bit of variety and allowed us to choose what we wanted to eat. Would I go back again - YES!

We knew what we were getting in terms of location and facilities so we know it's 2/3 star complex. The only thing I would state was poor was the cleanliness of the room, the bathroom did not look like the floor had been cleaned for a very long time with urine stains ground into the tiles. The kitchen table also was very dirty, we always go equipped and had some kitchen wipes and the amount of dirt that was coming of the table was ridiculous, after about 10 wipes brown was still coming of just one part of the table. If the rooms had been kept clean and cleaned properly every time someone checked out I would have given 5 out of 5. The only other bad point for me was the hardness of the bed it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on, it was so hard the floor would have looked inviting if I knew it had been cleaned. The staff are friendly, but the building tired and needs a lot of investment to make it a great hotel. That said its a great base, which is what we used it for and the pool is of a good size. So you all are clear you have to pay 1 euro for each sun bed you want and 1 euro for a umbrella. This was not an issue for me and was a good system as you didn't have people putting beds out at 6am and not using them. The sun does not hit the pool area until 9:10am, so don't worry that the pool area does not open until 9am and stays open until 7pm. If you want a bed by the small kids pool I would advise getting to the arcade where you pay the money for 8:45 to get near the front of the queue to get the best spot so you can watch you child play safe in the pool. We went end of July, start of August and had no issues getting a spot by the pool when we did stay at the hotel for the day. It takes 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach up a slight hill into the main strip, so this is a really good location and away from the pubs and clubs at night so you don't have the noise. We had a very relaxing two weeks and would go back, just armed with more cleaning wipes.

You get what you pay for in the rooms, they are great rooms but the bathroom could do with some work. The beds are very comfortable and they provide extra pillows and blankets. The pool area is great, very clean and very relaxing, they have great entertainment. It is a great location and very family friendly.

Apartment was basic and clean. Pool area was big and well looked after. Food was better at lunchtime than the evening meal. Not a lot of variety for any of the meals.

Rooms were dated but we had clean towels daily. Staff friendly. Didn't like the idea of paying for the sunbeds and parasols daily and we were all inclusive as well. This was 3 euros a day. Good location though, value for money.

Very big apartments, clean but a bit dated. Only 2 rings, no oven, a fridge, t.v that Noah probably watched, only Sky news and Pick for English channels. Staff very helpful, no complaints, stayed self catering as we don't like all inclusive.

Hotel is ok, old and needs a make over but would stay there again as the kids loved it. You got to pay for a sun beds and umbrellas around the pool which is the first time in 40 years of travelling I have had to do that. If you go all inclusive they don't let you have any spirits until 8pm to 11pm. Staff are good and friendly and had great weather. The hotel basic but clean, I am no snob but the food is terrible; 90% of the guests eat out in the evening. If you read reviews and they say the food is ok or good they must off been paid to say that, please believe me it's terrible.

Bedding and towels weren't changed once while we were there, we did contact reception but they told us it would be on the third day; went back as it wasn't, went back again and was told it would be, didn't want to spend the whole holiday asking about bedding and towels.

Hotel was grand. Rooms would be a lot better with air conditioning. We got a fan but was still roasting. Nice big kitchenette etc got the room done but I don't think our floor was ever brushed once. Food was good. Had the usuals at breakfast and lunch. We ate out most nights. Pool was great. Did not mind the 1 euro for bed etc.

The rooms were a bit dated, but big and liveable. Food was limited, but could survive if need be. Staff were brilliant. Pool was great, you are charged a euro per bed around the pool, I thought this was a really good idea as they could monitor who was using the hotel. There was also a fenced area around the pool that was monitored all day by staff to make sure only people booked in the hotel used the facilities. Snack bar had burgers chips and salad which was a bonus if breakfast was missed.

This is the second time we have stayed here. It has been newly painted on the outside which it badly needed. Great improvement. Staff at reception very helpful and friendly. Apartments kept spotless by cleaners and you only have to ask if you want your towels changed more frequently
Safe in every apartment for small fee and same for tv remote. Couldn't fault it and would stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for a week in October. We used to live in the resort of Praia Da Rocha. We were under no illusion that we would be staying at the Ritz, but we knew it would a good base. I booked all inclusive for 7 nights for 2 adults for the grand total of £212! That is approximately £15 per person per day/night. Check in was quick with a friendly welcome. You are able to hire the remote control for the TV in the room for 10 euro, this is refundable when you leave. The room itself was clean, big and towels changed on a regular basis. Like other reviews have said they are a little dated. There may have even been a cracked tile, or a mark on the door (like shown in the travellers photos). I wouldn't know as I don't go around my room with a camera looking for things to complain about and would rather, be concerned about enjoying my holiday. Again, this hotel cost £212 for the week AI. The pool is fine albeit very cold. Yes, you do have to pay 1 euro for a sun bed. You'd pay a lot more than that for a sun bed on the beach. Service around the pool is friendly. The food seems to be something a lot of people have issue with. Each day there is a meat and fish option; pasta, rice and chips; fresh salad, plus pasta salad; bread and olives; cakes and fruit. There isn't pizza, deep fried chicken or battered fish, if you want this stay at home and order in or book somewhere else. A novel idea for some would be to try something new. The snack bar is open in between breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves cheese and ham roll, burgers and chips. I tried a burger following someone top tip about them being the nicest burgers ever. I didn't rush back for a second one. The drink, again everyone loves a moan about this too. Beer, red and white wine during the day and spirits 8pm-11pm. I have stayed in all inclusive hotels before where they included spirits all day and even cocktails, these were bought to you, but those hotels cost a lot more than £212 for the week. One thing that did make me laugh when using the toilets in the reception area was the graffiti scrawled on the toilet door. The ironic thing was a lot was complaining about the up keep which these people were defacing.
