Beaches

Playa Ajabo is Callao Salvaje's dark sand and fine shingle beach. It is sheltered all round by steep rocky cliffs and the waters directly in front of the beach are sheltered by a breakwater. The Sansibar Ajabo beach bar and restaurant provides a popular centre piece to the terraced landscaping which has been cut into the cliffs at the back of the beach. Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire on the beach, which includes waiter service from the Sansibar Ajabo.

Things to Do

At the top of the resort, Callao Sport, forming part of the Grand Callao hotel, has a great range of sports and leisure facilities including a Mayan Spa and fitness gym, 33 tennis courts and a 9 hole pitch and putt.

A popular activity on the west coast is to go dolphin and whale watching on one of the boat trips which depart daily from Los Gigantes marina. There is also a diving centre there offering scuba diving trips. You can play golf at Golf Costa Adeje which is just 10 minutes drive (6km) or go hiking in the Mount Teide National Park.

Out and About

Behind the short stretch of promenade, where you can sit on a bench and catch the setting sun, there is a handful of shops and pavement cafes. Behind these, heading up the hill, there is a wider choice of restaurants, supermarkets, clothing and gift shops, sports bars and general amenities such as the chemist and banking facilities.

Nearby Attractions

The beaches of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos are just 15 minutes drive away and you will find plenty of restaurants and designer shops in the string of Costa Adeje resorts en-route.

There are a number of family friendly attractions within 20 minutes drive. Siam Park in Playa de las Americas has great landscaping and waterslides; Aqualand waterpark in the Torviscas / San Eugenio area of Costa Adeje has a variety of waterslides and the ever popular dolphinarium and; Jungle Park in Chayofa has a wildlife park and jungle trail.
