Cala Santandria is quite small - is has a handful of restaurants, a small supermarket and a gift shop - we tried the Steak House which was superb although not the cheapest. We also tried the beach bar, which again had very good food at a more reasonable price. The beach is again quite small and got very busy.

Cala Blanca is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away and is a bit bigger. There's a couple of supermarkets there; we found the one behind Tony's bar to be the most reasonable, with a good choice. Beer and wine were at least a Euro cheaper than the supermarket in Cala Santandria. There's about 8 restaurants in Cala Blanca, a couple of bars, a pizza take away and a gift shop. We really liked the Blarney Stone overlooking the sea - it wasn't in any way Irish as we expected but the food was good and we loved watching the sun go down. Tony's bar is worth a mention, they offered great service whilst we were watching the footie - they seemed to have all the big Premiership and Champions League matches. The beach at Cala Blanca was again small and seemed even busier than the one at Cala Santandria so we gave it a miss.

Quiet resort but, there is a bus stop outside hotel to nearby Cuitadella with shops and harbour and plenty of restaurants.

Beaches

There is a sheltered rocky cove with beautiful white sands that gently shelve into the calm waters, making it very safe for younger children. Amongst many other watersports, diving is a popular choice here. The beach can get busier at weekends with locals coming to chill out.

A larger variety of watersports, including water skiing, canoeing and windsurfing can be found at the nearby Cala'n Bosch beach.

Things to Do

Activities in Cala Santandria generally centre around the beach, with snorkeling, sailing and pedalos for hire.

Another activity for visitors to Cala Santandria is walking. There are many inland paths and cliff top trails to follow in this area and many whitewashed villages, ancient forts and castles to see along the way.

Out and About

The resort offers a few restaurants, some of which offer some fantastic seafood dishes but you will be able to get a good range of international cuisine too. There are many bars too but no nightlife to speak of, however, plenty of lively bars and nightclubs can be found in nearby Cala Blanca and Cuidadella.

Again there is a handful of shops so you will be able to find holiday essentials and souvenirs but for anything else you will most likely need to venture further afield, perhaps to Cuidadella or even the capital, Mahon.

Nearby Attractions

Attractions might be a bit thin on the ground in the actual resort but there is plenty to do in the surrounding area.

There is a golf course in Son Bou and a go kart track in Sant Luis which are both easily accessible by public transport.

The landscape is quite flat so the area is perfect for cyclists, whether it be a leisurely cycle round the resorts or a more energetic cycle round the island.

For those who enjoy exploring the countryside but would prefer to do so on horseback, there are stables at Cala'n Bosch.

There are a couple of water parks close by, so if you are looking for a fun day out for all the family then this is the place to come.

If you fancy doing a spot of sightseeing then take a trip to Ciudadella or Mahon. Ciudadella is full of interesting buildings which can be found while wandering through the many cobbled streets. There are many restaurants and shops to be found in both towns and lots of things to see and do so it is definitely worth visiting them both if you have the time.
