Cala Mondrago is a delight, two wonderful beaches two beach bar/restaurants, one little shop. Quite expensive compared to prices in Cala Dor, but, Cala Mondrago is worth that little extra. The ideal resort for a quiet restful holiday. <br /> .

Cala Mandrago is superb for a restful holiday, the beach is fantastic, surrounded by the pine forest. No shops, a little bit of heaven here on earth; love the place.

We love Cala Mondrago. There are two main beaches, the first called Mondrago has two restaurants on the edge of the beach. The second beach S'Amarador, is a bigger beach with fantastic sand and clear waters, safe for families. Whilst this is a nicer, larger beach, wc facilities are more limited, but there is a hut that sells drinks and food. Cala Mondrago has just two hotels. If you want more to do, then you'll need to get a bus or taxi to Porto Petro, Cala D'Or etc or get organised day trips through operators. There is a bus stop and taxi rank next to the main beach. If you want a relaxing holiday, then this is good place to try. There are plenty of local walks within the National Park area.

Very scenic and quiet but all the facilities were in the hotel. A short walk takes you to some amazing coves and beaches. A short drive or bike ride takes you to Puerto Petro which is stunning. A bit further on is Cala D'or if you want shops and bars.

If you don't want to leave the resort it is perfect, however there's not a lot going on in the area!

The hotel is isolated and nothing to walk to although there is a bus to the main village or a boat which docks at the rocks to take you to other villages along the coast.

The beach

The Cala Mondrago beach also known as Calo de n'Alis, is a sandy beach set between two rocky headlands with crystal clear and shallow water. Sun-loungers, parasols and pedalos are available to hire, and there are two bar-restaurants available on the beach. This can be a popular and busy beach during the summer months.

Just 400-metres from Cala Mondrago beach is s'Amarador, an unspoilt beach with fine sand and clear water. There are no watersports facilities here, though sun-loungers and parasols are available to hire and there is a snack bar on the beach.

Another 100-metres along is the much smaller beach of Calo des Burgit, surrounded by pine trees this unspoilt beach is just 15-metres in length and 20-metres wide. There are no facilities and no watersports available here.

Out and about

Cala Mondrago is a secluded resort around 8km south of Cala d'Or, as part of the Mondrago Nature Park which is set in 2000 acres of wetland and pine forest its remoteness makes it a popular choice for nature lovers and walkers. Car hire would be recommended for those wanting to visit other areas of the coastline however there is a mini-train which runs north into Porto Petro.

Nearby attractions

For golfers the nearest golf course is Vall d'Or just a 15-20 minute drive away. The golf club also has a pool, driving range, paddle courts and a restaurant.

There are a number of glass bottomed boat trips to take along the east coast, visiting remote beaches and other resorts such as Porto Cristo and Sa Coma. Land excursions include trips to the town of Manacor, famed for its artificial pearls; or the town of Felanitx, worth visiting on a Sunday morning just to experience the market which is widely recognised as being one of the best on the island.

The Exotic Parque Los Pajaros is found just outside the resort, it features a children's zoo, flamingos and a garden with a variety of cactus. Alternatively the Tropical Park Jumaica, situated on the road from Porto Cristo to Porto Colom, is a lush tropical garden with rare plants and free flying exotic birds.

Porto Cristo is home to the popular tourist attraction Caves of Drach, the caves feature many caverns with beautifully formed stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a large subterranean lake where classical music recitals are performed daily.
