The beach

Cala Mesquida beach is set in an open bay; this picturesque sandy beach is 350-metres in length and backed by sand dunes which stretch far inland. There are facilities on this beach with sun-loungers and umbrellas to hire, and there is a restaurant and a couple of beach bars for refreshments. When the conditions are right this is a popular beach for windsurfing.

Nearby beaches

Around 2.5 km south of Cala Mesquida is the large sandy beach of Cala Agulla, just a short journey by car or a pleasant walk along a nature trail. The beach is surrounded by pine trees and the mountains of Llevant Natural Park, with fine white sand it's around 500-metres long and 50-metres wide. There are no watersports here, though loungers are available to hire and for refreshments there are three beach bars and one restaurant.

Around 1.5 km to the north is the remote beach of Cala Torta, a popular spot with nudist bathers this beach has a large expanse of soft white sand surrounded by low mountain sides. There are no facilities here as the area is undeveloped however there is a small kiosk beach bar providing refreshment.

Out and about

Built around the beach the resort offers all the needs for a relaxed stay, with small supermarkets, a handful of shops, restaurants and bars.

Around 5 km away Cala Ratjada is the nearest tourist resort, it features a number of shops and restaurants, and for those seeking some nightlife it offers an array of discos and lively bars.

Things to do

For golf enthusiasts the nearest courses are the Canyamel Golf Course and the Capdepera Golf Course, both with 18-holes.

The historic town of Capdepera is just 4 km inland for Cala Mesquida, with a landmark castle, the largest fortress on the island which was built in the 14th century to protect the mainland from pirates. Another nearby historic town with a fortress is Arta, this charming town has narrow and winding streets, and the popular visitors site of Sanctuary of Sant Salvador.

There are a number of markets worth a visit in the surrounding area, Capdepera is held every Wednesday, Arta every Tuesday and Cala Ratjada every Saturday.
