Salou Hotels Costa Dorada, Spain
Salou is well known for having some of the best golden sandy beaches in the Costa Dorada which are particularly safe for the children and host a variety of watersports.

Beaches
The beaches of Salou seem to be the resort's main attractions and with the fine golden sand and the clear, shallow waters, it is easy to see why. The main beach stretches either side of the port, to the East is Llevant Beach and the the West is Ponent Beach. Both beaches are sandy and spacious and very popular with families. Facilities at Ponent Beach include cafes, life guard, showers and toilets. Llevant Beach is much the same but also offers a gym, children's play areas, volleyball courts and beach bars.
There is a walkway running parallel to the beach and is popular with people having picnics on the grassy areas.
Although the beaches can get very busy in the summer months, there are some little coves and smaller, more sheltered beaches which are just as pretty. The flag system at Salou beaches is a great way to ensure people only enter the water when it is safe to do so.
Things to Do
There is plenty to do in the resort such as mini golf and various children's playgrounds but perhaps the most popular attraction would be Port Aventura Theme Park. The park offers various themed areas, each with their own rides, attractions and restaurants. The park is suitable for young and old so you really must pay it a visit.
There is also a water park right next to it, here you will find various water slides, raging crazy river, wave pools, smaller rides for younger children and indoor play areas to escape the sun.
There is also a karting track at the Adrenaline Park which is suitable for ages 4 and up. As well as mini golf there is also a 9 hole golf course and an 18 hole golf course.
When you are out and about at night, you must pay a visit to the fountain at the start of the promenade. After sunset, the fountain is lit up and changes colour in time to music, it really is worth seeing.
Out and About
Being a beach resort, there are many watersports available such as water skiing, windsurfing, parasailing, sailing and jet skiing. There are many sports to try on land eg football, table tennis and beach volleyball.
There is a good range of restaurants in Salou and you can get anything from traditional Spanish Tapas to fast food, definitely something for everyone. There are plenty of bars on offer, many of which are British and Irish. There are nightclubs in Salou but it might be a bit tame for some and a trip to Barcelona may be worthwhile.
There are plenty of souvenir shops, mini markets and fashion stores in the resort which are great for wandering round. There is also a flea market in the old town centre on a Monday so if you fancy grabbing a bargain, this is the place to be.
Nearby Attractions
There is plenty to do in the various resorts surrounding Salou so if you fancy getting out of Salou for the day there are endless opportunities.
Cambrils, which is just a short taxi ride away is a working fishing port and has a great beach and is well known for its many seafood restaurants along its waterfront. Many people come here especially to sample the beautiful cuisine. Tarragona is also close by and is perfect for those who are interested in history as there are several Roman ruins to visit.
If you want to escape the resorts and enjoy a relaxing day out, why not visit the Ebro Delta wet lands. Visitors can enjoy walking through the different habitats eg coastal lagoons, marshland and sand dunes and spot the many different species of birdlife such as kingfishers, herons and flamingos. If you want to take the weight off your feet, take a river boat trip through the riverside forest for an unforgettable experience.
Another must to whilst in Salou is to take the train to Barcelona which takes approx 1 hour. There is so much to do here and whatever you do you will have a great time. You could take a trip to the zoo or take a tour of the famous Camp Nou football stadium or if shopping is your thing then this is the place to be. There are some amazing buildings here, many of which are Gaudi's work. The amazing fountains are worth seeing during the day but even better at night when they are lit up and and 'dance' to music. A great city with no end of things to see and do.
