Binibeca

Binibeca, Menorca, Spain

Binibeca is a quiet town with a few shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants and has remained fairly 'undiscovered'.

Binibeca

The capital Mahon is just 5 minutes away and has a far greater selection of bars and restaurants. There are 2 main parts of Binibeca, the Binibeca Vell area with narrow streets and pretty buildings and then there is the Binibeca Nou area which is quiet, close to the beach and mainly residential. If all you are looking for in a resort is a beach and some peace and quiet, this is the place.

Beaches

The beach at Binibeca offers beautiful white sand and is just perfect for kids. There are sunloungers and umbrellas available to hire, as well as kayaks and watercrafts for hire. There is a beach bar offering food and drink but if you prefer to bring your own, there is a shaded picnic area towards the back of the beach.

Things to Do

During the summer, visitors will be able to watch a game of cricket at the Menorca Cricket Club, something I'm sure you don't see often on a Mediterranean holiday.

The clear and colourful waters of Binibecca are great for scuba diving. Divers will enjoy the vast quantity of marine life and the beautiful rock formations. There are many dive courses available so it is suitable for beginners as well as experienced divers.

Another popular activity here is horse riding. There are so many clifftop routes, coastal trails and shaded forests just waiting to be explored on horseback.

If you are partial to a game of tennis then there are facilities on the hill at Binibecca. The courts are not in the best condition but useable. There are far better courts in Mahon which is not far away.

If you happen to be here around the last weekend of August, you may want to see what's going on at the annual festival of Saint Luis. The festival features a parade, music, concerts and feasts and is a great way to get a glimpse of true Menorcan culture.

Out and About

This quiet and peaceful fishing village has plenty of amenities, including a supermarket, restaurants and bars, although there is not much in the way of nightlife. Nightlife here is mainly centred around the restaurants, bars and hotels but it is probably adequate for families with young children. For those who are looking for somewhere a little livlier, take the bus to Mahon and party the night away.

Nearby Attractions

There is a waterpark in Arenal den Castell which is approx 30 mins by car or by bus via Mahon. There are some great slides and attractions for the whole family to enjoy and it is a great way to cool down too.

Mahon, Menorca's capital is close by and home to a whole host of attractions such as go karting at the old aerodrome, a number of historical attractions, plenty of shopping and dining opportunities and a lively nightlife.

There are also many jeep safari trips and boat trips to be taken from Mahon.

There are some great markets in Punta Prima on a Monday and Wednesday morning, selling various items from fruit and veg to souvenirs.

Punta Prima is also home to The Club de Golf Son Parc, a championship golf course with fantastic views over the Mediterranean Sea.
