Bendinat is a small residential suburb of Portal Nous on the south west coast of Majorca, around 20km from Palma.

A relativity unspoilt location, this small traditional area offers peace and relaxation. The benefits for staying in Bendinat are its close proximity to the city, ideal for shopping, sightseeing or enjoying its lively night scene. It's also within walking distance of Portal Nous where the marina is lined with exclusive yachts and excellent restaurants. Another plus for the location is the nearby 18-hole golf course.

The distance to the airport is approx 22km.

The beach

The Cala Bendinat beach also known as Cala Portal Nous is a quiet beach found in a residential area with limited facilities. This small stretch of sand is just 60-metres in length with an average width of 15-metres; there are loungers and parasols available to hire.

Things to do

As well as the neighbouring golf course and marina other things to do in the area include a visit to the old resident and studio of Joan Miro found in Cala Mayor, where a large display of some of his work can be viewed, or the Cuevas de Genova, these are the smallest caves on the island and are situated in the nearby village of Genova.

Out and about

There is not a large selection of shops and restaurants in the resort, though within easy reach the marina of Portals Nous has a selection of boutiques and some excellent dining options to be found.

The regular bus service runs directly to Palma where an even wider choice of restaurants, bars and nightlife can be enjoyed.

Nearby attractions

Full of historical sites and museums Palma makes an ideal day excursion; visit the Gothic sights of La Seu Cathedral and Basilica de Sant Francesc, Palace de L'Almudaina found next to the cathedral and Castell de Bellver the only circular castle in Spain.

Enjoy the scenic train journey from Palma to Soller, it takes a magnificently picturesque route and with vintage carriages is a pleasurable and popular tourist attraction. Once in Soller you can extend your trip onto Port de Soller, where a vintage tram connects with the arrival of the train.

A very popular evening attraction is the Pirates Adventure (Els Pirates), which is based just outside of Magaluf (approx 6km away). A pirate themed dinner and show, with performances most evenings, there's a special late night adult's only performance in addition to the family show.

The Marineland which is located in the nearby resort of Portal Nous is a popular attraction for families with young children, the park features an aquarium with rays and sharks, and the shows includes performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins.

Further family fun can be enjoyed at the Western Waterpark found just outside the resort of Magaluf, the park is full of thrilling water-slides and fun pools for all ages to enjoy. Other attractions offering fun for all the family include Go-Karting and the Katmandu Fun-House both in Magaluf, and Golf Fantasia found in the heart of Palma Nova featuring three enjoyable courses.
