Small nice resort, sheltered bay, lovely for swimming, we went early September so no children mainly couples, but not wall to wall Brits. About 30 bars and restaurants in total, we went out twice (Hotel Half Board) and were very happy with food and pricing. As a guide a large beer was 3.5 Euro and a litre of house wine (decent) 9 Euro. Don't miss going into Chania old town and harbour - simply amazing, bus runs from village 3.20 Euro each each way - stunning place.

Almyrida has loads to offer - brilliant tavernas, bars and cafes right on the seafront. Great food and not too expensive. Good location for day excursions if you have a car.

The resort itself was pleasant enough but the hotel's beach space was particularly disappointing as it was stony. It was necessary to take advantage (at a cost!) of one of the numerous tavernas fronting the beach which had their own loungers and sun shades. I would suggest that the hotel consider purchasing one of these if it became available to provide lunchtime food and drinks for guests.

Almyrida is a small village, 4/5 hotels, villas, and apartments. 3/4 supermarkets, loads of restaurants. Nothing else, exceptionally quiet resort. Ideal for want we wanted, don't expect noise, bars, evening entertainment, just a very quiet peaceful place. A walk around the village is about it after dinner, no entertainment around.

The hotel had a singer on one Thursday night and a guitarist on the next Thursday night, but not well attended as drinks too expensive, I call 8€ for a cocktail and 3.6€ for a beer expensive. We hired a car for 4 days, stunning scenery. The beach in Almyrida is lovely, quite long and very shallow, ideal for children, and sandy. If you want a peaceful relaxing area, this is for you.

Very small resort. One Main Street, lots of restaurants, only about 6/7 other shops/supermarkets. Clean beach. Need to go to Chania town for loads of shops and lovely harbour. Ideal for chilling out if you don't want to be energetic. Euro prices so can work out a little expensive. £5.50 ish for a pint of beer and a coke!

Would have been nice to be able to use the pools and beach more but unable due to weather, but given end of season not a huge surprise. Location great and accessible from the airport. Trip to botanical gardens is recommended.

Lovely small resort, bars and restaurants. Small supermarkets with plenty of choice, car/bike hire, water sports, but closed due to late season. Some boutique shops, beach small charge for sun beds 3 euros per day. Excursions possible, 40 minute bus ride into Chania, pleasant! Nice place to visit early/late season would not want to go in peak holiday when too busy.

A small, beach holiday resort with plenty of eating and drinking places alongside the beach. All within a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. Occasional musical entertainment at different bars, otherwise a good resort for people watching / chatting with friends in the evening. Mainly for beach lovers who don't mind cosying up to others using the sunbeds. Hotel did provide details of walks to nearby places but it is a hilly area! Buses about 3-4 times a day, taxis are available but a hire car allows more freedom to visit local area and places further away.

Almyrida is a lovely place to spend a holiday, fantastic beach, with plenty of sunbeds. A wonderful peaceful seaside village. The local restaurants serve delicious food with plenty of choice and are all situated beside the beach. If you sit on the beach outside a particular taverna there will be a waiter service on the beach, bringing food and drinks (including bottles of free water) on request. I will definitely return to Almyrida.

Have been to Almyrida several times before and very much like the combination of excellent beach and relative quietness with a good choice of cafes, tavernas and mini-markets. With a car it's a good base to explore the surroundings of mountain, coast, rural villages and towns.

The locals were telling us that until about 10 years ago Almyrida was a fishing village with very little, if any tourism. It has developed slowly into a picturesque resort with a strip running parallel to the beach where you'll find a dozen or so bars and restaurants. The beach was very clean and shelved gently into the sea which made it ideal for young children. Sunbeds were available to rent for the day for 3 euros each. Not all the shops or tavernas take credit/debit cards so you need to ensure you have cash, but there is an ATM in the resort. The bus to Chiana costs 6 euros return and takes the scenic route through several small villages, it takes about 50 minutes and goes from the centre of the resort. The tavernas were very reasonably priced and offered a good selection of local produce. Those worthy of a special mention - Dimitris and Cost Anita, both offering excellent quality food served by very friendly staff.

The little village is absolutely beautiful (the mountains look like they have been painted onto the backdrop). Sea is fabulous and safe to swim in and the sand makes great sandcastles. Plenty of restaurants and supermarkets. Airport only 45 mins away and a visit to the Venetian Port in Chania (by the local bus) is an absolute must. Only down side was having to come home.

Lovely resort, fairly quiet in May but told more lively during June, July and August. Beautiful clean sandy beach and shallow clear water. Loads of good restaurants but drinks varied in price so check cost of a pint first. Regular buses to Chania but limited to other resorts and if you want to hire a car don't forget to take your British licence (like we did).

Lovely child friendly beaches, low tide ideal for young children to play on the beach and in the water. Plenty of restaurants. No entertainment in the evenings when we were there, so not for you if you like music while you eat and drink. Food and drink priced similar to UK, lager and wine reasonable, shorts quite expensive. We had a lovely relaxing week as a couple, but thought a fortnight may have been too long.

Almyrida is small, but there are a few lovely restaurants which offer great meals for affordable prices. There is not that much to do in Almyrida itself, but it is the perfect place for a quiet holiday.
