As a 54yr old (young at heart) mum holidaying with 17yr old son we had an amazing time. Quad biking, jeep safari, white water rafting I had a ball. Chill out time at Kleopatra beach or aqua park and just to keep son happy we had a night on party boat. Something for everyone and everything reasonably priced. Should pre-book activities or at least search online for prices as I did notice some folks paying on the day were charged up to twice the price. If you have quote to show most will accept that price. All in all we both had an amazing holiday.

The beaches

To the west of Alanya are the adjoining Kleopatra and Damlatas beaches which stretch for around 2km and (according to legend) the beach where Cleopatra once bathed. Kleopatra Beach is the most popular in the resort and can be very busy during high-season. To the cities east are the 3km Keykubat and 1km Portakal beaches, which then stretch on for some 40km, the eastern beaches are more child friendly as the water here does not deepen as quickly as Kleopatra beach.

Water sports enthusiasts are well catered for with facilities for paragliding, jet-skis, windsurfing and pedalos etc. available on all beaches. And getting refreshment won't be a problem with stalls found nearly every 50 metres.

Things to do

Situated on the promontory to the south of the modern city centre is the impressive Alanya Castle, its walls reach nearly 6.5km in length, and have a height of up to 250-metres from the sea level.

Along with the castle another popular tourist attraction is the Damlatas Cave, said to be beneficial to asthma sufferers, this cave is situated close to Kleopatra beach and reachable by foot while a further two caves; Pirate and Lovers caves, can be explored by boat.

Boat trips from the harbour are a worthwhile activity as there is much to see, including wild dolphins, quiet beaches and remote caves.

Out and about

There are a vast number of shops and stalls throughout the city, offering clothes, home-wares, and all the usual beach and tourist goods you'd expect to find in a holiday resort.

Alanya is bursting with restaurants catering for all budgets and tastes, and at night the city comes alive with dozens of bars particularly around the harbour area, with many offering music, live acts and karaoke.

Getting around Alanya is easy with taxis readily available and the frequent and very popular Dolmus service.

Nearby attractions

Alanya is a great base for day trips to nearby sites of interest such as the Aspendos Roman Theatre, the ancient ruins at Perge and Side, and the natural beauty of the Manavgat waterfall and the Sapadere Canyon.
