Yaiza is approx 30 minutes by road to Playa Blanca with good selection of beaches and restaurants and approx 30 minutes by road to Puerto Del Carmen with restaurants bars and shopping.

Environment

Yaiza is a pretty and historic white-washed village, at the foothills of the famous Timanfaya National Park. This relaxing and scenic village is an ideal spot to soak up the authentic local atmosphere, admire spectacular volcanic views and explore the surrounding natural attractions as well as the lovely south coast beaches.

Things to Do

In the village itself you can sit in the tree-lined Plaza de los Remedios next to the 17th century church of the Nuestra Senora de los Remedios and the House of Culture.

Being located just moments from the Timanfaya National Park a guided tour around the lava fields and volcanic landscape, by coach or camel is a must. The Timanfaya restaurant uses the natural heat from the ground to grill meat and fish and, it is an ideal spot to enjoy impressive sunsets and panoramic views.

Other natural attractions on the edges of the Timanfaya National Park include Salinas de Janubio, El Golfo and La Geria. At Salinas de Janubio you can visit the saltworks, set alongside the blue lagoon and, following the coast road you will come to the striking black beach and the green lagoon that fills the sea facing semi-circular crater at El Golfo. In the small village of El Golfo you can stop and enjoy lunch on the patio of one of the waterfront restaurants.

Out and About

La Geria wine region runs along the inland borders of the Timanfaya National Park where you will see the remarkable sight of thousands of semi-circular stone walls providing shelter to facilitate the cultivation of the grape vines. Here you can also visit one of the bodegas for a guided tour and wine tasting.

Nearby Attractions

The beautiful Marinas at Puerto Calero (10km) and Playa Blanca (15km) provide a pleasant environment to stroll around the prestigious array of yachts, browse the boutiques and relax at the bars and the restaurants. There are also facilities for diving, coastal cruises, submarine safaris and fishing trips,

At Playa Blanca there are 3 sandy beaches spread evenly throughout the resort, which borders the Los Ajaches National Park, where you will find the beautiful Papagayo beaches.
