St Paul's Bay

St Pauls Bay offers cafes and restaurants with tourist shops. There is no beach as such (shelving rocks) but Golden Bay is within 5 km of the resort. The transfer time is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.

Beaches

St Paul's Bay lies along the southern coast of Xemxija Bay and has a small beach at its innermost point. The remainder of the coastline is rocky but with many large flat rocks where you can lay and soak up the Maltese sun or access the clear blue Mediterranean waters for snorkeling and swimming.

For sandy beaches and a wider choice of watersports, (such as jet skis, banana rides and windsurfing) head further up the coast to Mellieha Bay (6km) or, across the island to Golden Bay (4.5km). For a smaller and quieter sandy beach try Riviera Bay (5km) or Gnejna Bay (7.5km) on the west coast or, on the north coast, the secluded sands of Paradise Bay and Arnier Bay (10km).

Things to Do

Diving is very popular in Malta and there are diving centres in and around St Paul's Bay offering equipment hire, dive trips and diving courses. There is also an Aquatic Club along the promenade with a large swimming pool, a children's pool, a diving centre and various activities.

Next to the Aquatic Club stands St Paul's Tower, which is one of the remaining five Wignacourt Towers still standing. This small 17th century watchtower houses visitor information and offers great views across the bay and beyond.

Step back in time and browse the Classic Car Museum in Qawra or watch your kids splash around at the Bugibba Water Park - both of which are in walking distance of St Pauls Bay. Just outside the resort, near Salina Bay, BirdPark Malta has over 200 birds and animals to see.

Out and About

St Paul's Bay is the old part of town and has a number of friendly bars and pavement cafes, a harbour filled with little fishing boats and some nice restaurants. If you continue past the beach you will come to the even quieter resort of Xemxija, on the north coast of Xemxija Bay.

In the opposite direction, St Paul's Bay rolls seamlessly into Bugibba, which in turn, merges into Qawra. Bugibba Square is popular in the evenings and is surrounded by lively bars and restaurants or, a little further round the promenade, you can try your hand at the Oracle Casino.

Nearby Attractions

St Paul's Bay is very well served by the local bus network providing you with easy access to the capital city of Valletta, inland ancient towns, coastal resorts and the sandy beaches at the north of the island. Excursions are readily available, on land or sea including boat trips to the islands of Gozo and Comino; harbour cruises and sightseeing tours of Valletta.

Just a short bus ride away, family days out include the Splash & Fun Water Park and Malta Marine Park (which are next door to each other); Popeye's Village and the Malta Falconry Centre.
