For a warm climate all year round this is a very popular cosmopolitan resort for families, couples and groups alike looking for cheap holidays.

It is ideally located only 17.5km from Reina Sofia airport, taxi transfer is approximately 15 mins, coach transfer 35-90mins.

There are 6 beaches in total, 3 man-made and 3 black sandy beaches where watersports are widely available. There is a lovely marina in Puerto Colon with plenty of karaoke bars and sports bars close by.

The resort also boasts its own Waterpark and National Park which are well worth a visit. In the evening you will be spoilt for choice with the resorts numerous bars, pubs and nightclubs, not to mention the abundance of restaurants serving everything from traditional Paella to fresh Lobster.

Beaches

Playa de las Americas has great man-made golden sandy beaches with plenty of sun loungers and parasols for hire and calm water for swimming. There's plenty of watersports on offer too including banana boats, jet skiing, para-sailing and pedalos.

Things to Do

If you manage to drag yourself away from the beach there is plenty to do in and around the resort. A great fun day out for kids and grown ups of all ages is Siam Park, a water park which offers thrilling water-slides for the adventurous as well as lazy rivers for those looking to chill out.

Popular activities include Go-Karting, horse riding and scuba diving. Quad bikes and push bike hire is also a great way to get about and jeep safaris are an excellent way to get off the beaten track and see a different side to Tenerife.

Out and About

Of course Playa de las Americas is best known for its lively night-life with a multitude of party bars and clubs. There are three main areas which offer lively bars and clubs which close as the sun comes up.

If you're out and about doing a spot of shopping then the Safari Centre is a good place to go for a great selection of designer shops. The centre also has superb restaurants plus the fantastic light and music fountain displays which are always popular with children.

Nearby Attractions

Playa de las Americas is also home to a superb 18 hole golf course which has held amateur and professional International tournaments.

Bargain hunters should head to Torviscas Market. Held every Saturday it's one of the biggest markets on the island with a mass of stalls selling everything from clothes and jewelry to souvenirs and crafts.
