Beaches

Ortakent has a very long sand and shingle beach which is separated from Yahsi Beach by the Marina. The waters are calm and clear for swimming and snorkelling but the sea bed is pebbly and you might want to wear water shoes (readily available locally). In some places, where there are rocks between the beach and the water, there are short sets of steps for easy access into the sea.

Things to Do

Dedeman AquaPark is located on the edge of Ortakent town (approx 5km back from the beach) and features 24 slides, including thrill slides and mini slides for children, a lazy river, a wave pool, swimming pools, a restaurant and fast food outlets. It is open daily from the end of May to the end of September.

Tamarisk Water Sports Centre is open every day in the summer for lessons or equipment hire. Activities available include kayaking and sailing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and water skiing.

You can take boat trips to the sandy beach at Kargi Bay and ride a camel along Camel Beach. If you fancy a game of tennis or a round of golf, Bodrum Golf and Tennis Club lies just a few minutes away, on the outskirts of Ortakent town.

Out and About

The bay of Ortakent and Yahsi is packed with shops, bars and restaurants. Many of the beach bars and restaurants offer beach service, so you need not move from your lounger.

Ortakent Yahsi Marina is small but it's a relaxing area to sip a drink and gaze out to sea or browse the colourful little craft stalls.

Ortakent town lies approx 3km back from the beach and is on the main road between Bodrum and Turgutreis. It is a working town with every day shops and services and a weekly street market on Wednesdays.

Nearby Attractions

Dibeklihan Art and Craft Village is approx 6km north of Ortakent beach and has an art gallery, an ethnographic museum, artisan shops and a charming bistro restaurant.

Bodrum is approx 13km away and just 20 minutes ride on the local dolmus. The city is a hive of activity day and night with plenty of shops, hundreds of bars, all night clubs and intimate waterfront restaurants. The city also has a fair share of historical and archaeological sites, not least, the symbolic St Peters Castle which illuminates the bay at night.
