Matagorda

The resort has one commercial centre, Commercial Centre Matagorda, that offers numerous shops, restaurants and bars. This resort is perfect for those wanting a relaxing holiday. However, the busy resort of Puerto del Carmen is only five minutes away. Transfer time from the airport is 15 minutes.

Beaches

Matagorda is a relatively compact and relaxing resort and better still, it's pretty flat, so wherever you stay you are an easy stroll from the wide and light golden sands of the Matagorda beach.

Things to Do

Popular leisure activities include windsurfing, diving and fishing and there is also a Spa Centre at the Beatriz Playa Hotel. Behind the resort lie the excellent range of circuits and facilities of the Gran Karting Club (2km). Here you can hire karts for all ages and abilities, from children's karts to high spec karts for experienced racers and even battery operated mini karts for the under 5's or, you can just chill out on the cafe terrace and cheer on your friends and family.

Just outside of the resort you have the opportunity to play, or learn to play, golf at the Lanzarote Golf Club (4.5km). Lanzarote Golf is an 18 hole par 72 golf course with a golf academy, a summer school, a pro shop and a hire shop, a driving range, putting green, practice bunker and a restaurant overlooking the Atlantic.

Out and About

The promenade which runs alongside the beach in Matagorda is perfect for a morning or evening stroll and indeed you can follow it to Arrecife Airport or, in the other direction, through the neighbouring resorts of Playa de los Pocillos and Puerto del Carmen. And, you don't have to walk either, bikes, roller blades and segways are readily available to hire from the Centro.

The Centro is the main shopping centre in Matagorda and is centrally located along the promenade. Here you will also find a diving school, a supermarket and a good choice of bars and restaurants.

Nearby Attractions

For a fun day out, hop on the shuttle bus to Rancho Texas Park (3km) and see the exotic animals and landscaped gardens; watch the sea lion show and the birds of prey showing off their skills, chill-out around the swimming pools or take lunch at the Wild Horse Saloon. Kayaking and pony rides are also available. Alternatively, you could go in the evening for the themed Wild West or Spanish dinner shows.

The capital of Arrecife is just 10km away where you can visit cultural attractions, shop the Artisan market and high street stores or take lunch around the pretty El Charco lagoon. For lively nightlife head into Puerto del Carmen (4.5km).
