Beaches

There are around 70 beaches around the coast of Mahe. Most of the beaches are of beautiful white sand and typically backed with tropical greenery, tamaka trees and coconut palms. Things to Do

The Seychelles Golf Course is located on a former coconut plantation and has great views over the Ocean. The National Park of Morne Seychelles provides several nature and hiking trails and climbing the Morne Seychelles will provide you with panoramic views. In the park you can also take a guided tour of a working tea factory.

The Victoria Botanical Gardens are relatively small, set in 15 acres of grounds, but provide a relaxing opportunity to see the famous Coco der Mer palm tree, endemic to the Seychelles, a variety of tropical flowers, fruit bats and the giant turtles. Also in Victoria you can visit the Natural History Museum.

For another opportunity to see the giant tortoises, spend a few hours strolling around the gardens and rainforest trails at Le Jardin du Roi spice gardens, stop for lunch in the cafe and try the home-made spice flavoured ice creams.

Out and About

The capital of Victoria is the hub of the island and here you will find numerous shops and restaurants, nightlife including a couple of casinos and the ferry port. The Sir Selwin Clark Market is open every morning, but is at its busiest on Saturdays, and is the place to buy local fruits, fresh fish and hand-crafted items.

Nearby Attractions

The catamaran ferry to the neighbouring island of Praslin takes about an hour and runs several times per day. Alternatively you can fly between Mahe and Praslin in just 15 minutes. There is also a regular boat service to the island of La Digue with a journey time of approx 15 to 30 minutes.

There are also many smaller and uninhabited islands, lagoons and coral reefs that can be explored by chartered yachts and organised boat trips.
