The city also offers some fantastic shopping opportunities for goods such as pottery, leather, jewellery and silk.

Beaches

The centre of the city waterfront is dominated by the port, but either side of that there is a string of beaches. The wide sandy beaches of Ain Diab are approx 3km around the coastline from the Hassan II Mosque and are popular with locals and visitors alike. Although the sea is usually a little rough for swimming there are beach clubs with swimming pools.

Things to Do

Take a tour of the huge Hassan II Mosque, surrounded by squares and courtyards on a promontory between the port and the Corniche. Discover it's impressive architecture, towering minaret, ornate mosaics and intricate carvings.

Experience traditional local life amid the hot and crowded maze of narrow lanes in the Old Medina. In contrast visit the modern Habbous Souk, which is easier to navigate than the old Medina and has a far more sedate atmosphere to enjoy the cafes, shops and stalls.

The Mohammed V Square is a wide, open plaza lined with grand French colonial buildings and ornate facades. Close to the square you can stroll around the gardens at the Ligue Arab Park.

Out and About

In the heart of the busy city of Casablanca you will find a cosmopolitan atmosphere, public gardens to relax in and plenty of shops and markets. The main shopping street is the Boulevard Mohammed V and here you will also find the central market which takes place every morning.

The Corniche makes for a pleasant seafront walk and runs from the Hassan II Mosque towards Ain Diab. It is lined with cafes, bars, nightclubs and restaurants. The Casablanca Tram has many stops in and around the city and offers a quicker and less stressful alternative to driving.

Nearby Attractions

The Tamaris Aqua Park (25km) is open from the beginning of May to the beginning of September and offers a fun day out for all ages. It features a number of slides of varying thrill levels, a lazy river, a wave pool, spacious sun bathing terraces with shades and cabanas, mini karts, a games room and a restaurant.
