A cruise is the easiest way to discover the islands of the Caribbean, especially as you won't have to pack your suitcase every few days to experience a new destination. Each morning you'll wake up somewhere new with a full day to explore the port, before you hop back onboard and set sail for the next destination. There are literally thousands of different itineraries to choose from, ranging from short weekend breaks of 3 or 4 nights to full length explorations of 35 nights and more. Caribbean cruises incorporate a huge area, from Mexico, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica in the west, across to St. Kitts and Antigua in the east, and as far south as Aruba and Curacao. With all your meals, entertainment and leisure needs taken care of onboard the ship, you can enjoy your time ashore with new experiences like jungle treks, water-sports and snorkelling, or just sit back and soak up the locals' relaxed way of life on one of the white sandy beaches.

The best Caribbean deals are usually had by booking early for peak dates such as Christmas and Easter, or by going out of season which is typically during our summer months. Prices on cruises sailing from Miami and Fort Lauderdale tend to stay fairly steady, so look for more unusual ports such as Baltimore, Galveston or even New York to find some good deals. Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines have a large number of ships in the Caribbean so they're a good place to start as there's plenty of choice.

Cheap Caribbean Cruises

The cheapest ones will be the short break cruises that are typically between 2 and 5 nights long. They are popular with new cruisers as they're not too long and won't break the bank, and are a great little add-on if you happen to already be staying near where the ship sails from i.e. Florida for Miami and Fort Lauderdale departures. Even if you are doing a longer cruise you can still add on a couple of days in a hotel pre or post cruise to give you a chance to see the city and surrounding areas.
